There's no doubt about it if we come through these next 2 games with 4 points or so and manage to stay in the top 2-3, it will give everyone massive faith that we can go on with this.
Two losses could put us 6 points off the pace, down in 5th, and morale will drop. It's a very important time.

Disappointing result. Really disappointing to take. We gave them their biggest test on their own patch, that's for sure.
So many chances wasted, Sterling with that sitter, Coutinho denied after that great move, the Hendo backheel, obviously the woeful Sterling offside call… meanwhile Mignolet didn't have a real save to make outside of their two goals.
On another day we win that but that's how it goes I guess. Luck had to end somewhere. Taking heart from the performance.

Certainly disappointing but I think the team will get a lot out if that, knowing that we could/should have won it. Was a good performance against the best team in the league, hopefully we take it to Chelsea in the same manner.

Rodgers' attacking of Mason was hilarious. Just made himself look like an idiot

Don't think points are the real issue this season, it's just there are so many teams in between. I mean, with United, at the start of the new year, if you are less than 3 games off top, there are no dramas. That's the case this time around but the number of teams causes the issue.

The more teams that you need to drop points, the harder it makes it to climb the ladder. Especially when teams seem to be finding it hard to string big winning runs this year due to always running into one of the top 5-6 teams

You can't really talk when Arsenal surrendered a 5 point cushion in just as many games. That was a tough loss to take. We played well and should have walked away with at least a point. The only team to really test City at their home in quite some time is a lot to take heart from. Definitely gives you belief that we can beat Chelsea.

Shit changes so quickly with so many teams near the top taking pts off each other, more so this year than any other, or at least that's what it feels like.

Go on Rodgers- let Howard Webb and the linesman have it with both barrels. For the second time in 5 days they have let the home side off the hook! Makes you wonder if BR's rant after the City game had more merit than some initially wanted to give it credit for...

A lot being made of this stat that 16 of Suarez's 19 league goals have come against teams in the bottom 7 and he's scored none against, United, City, Chelsea or Arsenal. While on the surface that doesn't look great it doesn't tell the whole story. In those 4 games against the big teams, while he hasn't scored, he did set up something like 13 chances which his team mates couldn't finish.

Blaming the referees and telling them how to do their job only makes them less inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt the next time around. Yeah, it distracts from the fact that we didn't take our chances against City but now we've also missed the chance to pick up a point against Chelsea because Rodgers decided he was going to give them what for. We missed out on our rub of the green for years because Rafa was consistently scathing of the referees. I hope Rodgers doesn't make the same mistake.

Correct Afro - as much as we all didn't expect wins last 2 games draws were there for the taking ! BR can deflect his frustration at the officials for all he likes but we created enough chances both games to gain 1 drawn game at the worst...thats where we failed BR.

Not a fan of Salah. We really need a striker who can come deep and play in the hole if need be.
I dunno about DM but we definitely need a fullback.

Mignolet, Johnson, Cissokho, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, Aspas, Sterling, Suarez
Subs: Jones, Rossiter, Kelly, Toure, Moses, Alberto, Gerrard
Good to see Gerrard making strides towards recovery. Not so sure how I feel about Cissokho and Aspas though.

After 2 loss's and Hull coming on a 6nil romp I did have some thoughts how we would bounce back. A solid rounded performance especially at home would have been interesting seeing the recovery as an away game. Johnson injured his ankle through the 2nd therefore Toure came on I was pleased with that but more seeing SG coming back on for Aspas who mind you didn't make any impact imo. Luis was his usual self but not as effective up front till taking charge of a free kick just outside the box from the left, another quality taken kick turning into the left side netting =d> We should have put a couple more away but it was one of those days where things just didn't click 100% nonetheless a win we would have struggled in the past and puts us back into 4th !

Johnson needs to go. Absolute and utter garbage the last 3-4 months. Usually one of his biggest fans but he's gotta go.
Good to get the win amongst fucking disgraceful refereeing (again). Suarez absolutely mauled from start to finish.

That's three games in a row where the officiating has been poor. Hopefully 4th time lucky? It was good to win the sort of match the team would have struggled with under the Benitez era, especially given the recent form of both teams...

This x100. Ws one of our best players last season but just seems lazy and has had the touch of a rapist. Surprised BR hasn't benched him since he's always been willing to put a young player out there. Hopefully we get a replacement this transfer window

Hopefully we get a replacement this transfer window If Martin Kelly could stay fit he'd be in there at RB. I think it's a bit harsh to say Johnson "needs to go". He's had runs like this in the past and bounced back better than ever. Just needs to get back to basics at training. Aspas can get on the next plane back to Spain though. Had high hopes for him and he's done absolutely nothing.

Havn't seen him play though but we did pay a pretty penny for him and couldn't be worse that Johnson. If he can turn it around, great, but hes on the bad side of 20, his contract expires at the end of this season and would likely be one of the highest paid players on the team. Dont see him getting an extention.
