I really want us to sign a 'top quality' player to replace Suarez... but who is there going around?
I've seen a few links with Higuain and Benzema but I think they're BS tbh.
I'm very happy with our business so far and looks like Moreno might be back on with Aspas going the other way.
And hopefully we can wrap up Lovren.
Then I just want us to get the fuck rid of Reina, and sign another top attacking player, (or two) and we'll be done.

pending deals for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic (£20m), who is due in for a medical tomorrow, and Lille's Belgium international striker Divock Origi (£11m)

Markovic posted on his FB saying goodbye to Benfica fans so I'd say that's done
Most reports saying 19.8m which is alright. Highly rated, have to pay it these days.

This was posted in one of the LFC supporter groups on facebook, taken from caughtoffside. Have to say, I agree with this 100%
'With no disrespect to Jay Rodriguez, or any of the other targets mentioned in this list – Liverpool seriously need to widen their horizons from Southampton and Swansea if they want to sign players to actually improve their first-team. Southampton finished eighth last term, and Swansea finished 12th, and Liverpool fans will see Chelsea signing Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal acquiring Alexis Sanchez, and Manchester United targeting Angel di Maria and Arturo Vidal – and question why their club, who finished 2nd last term and has an enormous transfer budget – are trying to buy mid-table Premier League players."

Griezmann is highly possible, he has a buyout clause and is a quality player. Would be one of the best wide options available (rate him more highly than Shaqiri) and would be a top signing.
Lucas or Lavezzi could become available now that PSG have seemingly wrapped up a deal for Di Maria.

I tend to agree - but nothing we can do but wait and see. Looks like Aspas on loan to Seville is confirmed, good - Moreno deal still nothing concrete. As we all know defense is our prob - wish this would get some good news sooner rather than later. Some Cavani rumours as expected but no way : It's hard to see where he would fit at Liverpool, either. Coming off a terrible season and looking clearly inferior to Suarez with Uruguay for some time, he would take up at least two-thirds of the fee Liverpool just received for Suarez and would want absolutely massive wages. It's the kind of marquee signing that seems exciting based on name recognition but wouldn't actually make a lot of sense.

Cavani is good but only when he plays as the out an out striker, with Zlatan at PSG he doesn't get that chance. Although can't see him coming to us. Problem with our backs last year was that we didn't have a consistent back 4, too much chopping and changing. Hopefully this year we get a settled combo, regardless of the make-up. Looking forward to seeing what Suso can do this year.

Pr1mo - well Suso is keen as to stay - the year away proably has matured he a little more so will be interesting to see his development staying under BR and the guys at Melwood from now on. My Cavani quotes were straight from one of the transfer tabs, he's a strong SOB thats for sure, would probably wreck havoc in the EPL but as you say can't see it happenning - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Our backs changed much due to injury - but we leaked some stupid easy goals regardless, I'm still no big fan of Johnson.

I think everyone is anxious and expectations of a BIG name signing.....its rush hour now that the Cup has finished and when you think about it barring Bayern every other top club is hussling for signings - players are in a great position right now if near end of their current contracts - unless your Barca/Real who will overpay evertime to get their target. Out of our hands - we just have to wait and see but it sure is frustrating.

Going gung ho for a 50million 'big man' signing goes against the style of BR and FSG over the last few years. I don't think it will happen.
I don't really care about it happening either - as long as we bring in a few players that are going to challenge the XI thats what I want now.

Suarez is irreplaceable and I don't see us going out and buying a Cavani or Vidal . Few reports today about Remy and of course we're still linked with Lovren, Origi and Davies. We need depth if we're going to stay in the top 4 and compete in Europe.

Look I don't think were expecting a big $$$$ signing, we can't at this stage but depth is one thing having proven quality is another, all players are replaceable and tbh to compete for the top 4 incl Europe we need another out and out striker - them the facts, barca real Bayern chelski and our old long time foes have always replaced their main shooters with another up and comer or better. Sturridge was 2nd top scorer last season but will he last all season long to deliver ? I don't think so, Raheem is learning and still finding his place, Europe will be his next big test, hopefully he comes through, Lambert ? who knows we are yet to see plus at his age more of a back up, We need another striker IMO. Mids we are looking solid from youth, quality and experience, backs still to get there with more especially another strong tuff player to back up the beast and agger, Kelly well I hope he can get on the park consistently this season but otherwise it's Toure !????? Sakho, well he just isn't sound enough for me, especially the coming euro games, Flanno will be sound, Johnson meh !.........Markovic hopefully hits the ground running........Lovren, what else has he done, ok had a good season but as mentioned why are we looking to buy so many from the one club just making the top 10. If it happens hope I'm proven wrong end of season. I'm not stressing just anxious 8-[ Edited by m.l.: 18/7/2014 10:25:34 PM

sydneycroatia58 wrote:Looks like Remy is on for you guys. Yeah. Selling Borini for 14m is good business. I like the lad and think he'll do well there but I think he's the kind of player who needs regular football and match consistency to be effective - not the kind of player who will have a great impact off the bench. 14m is good for them, good for us and good for him. Good luck Fabio (if it goes through) And Assaidi for 7m to Stoke is good business too. 21m for those two is exceptional. If we do sign Remy, I'll be happy. 8m is not bad for a player of his calibre. Still want us to sign a LB, CB, DM(if Lucas goes) and another attacking player.

I saw that's what he wants. And that's probably why we turned him down. Wouldn't be willing to pay 80k a week to a guy who's nothing more than depth.

Apparently Borini has told BR he doesn't want to go to Sunderland and wants to stay with us.

I knew 14m was too good to be true
He's boarded the plane for the US trip and reporter from the Echo just tweeted:
Scott Wilson @Scottwilsonecho 4 min. Pictures now emerging showing Fabio Borini boarding Liverpool's plane for Boston. #SAFC had previously been told he would not be travelling.
Scott Wilson @Scottwilsonecho 4 min. #SAFC's reaction to turn of events will be instructive. Poyet's tone yesterday suggested confidence over a deal. Much more uncertain now.
Hopefully we can still make it happen.

Still can't get my head around 14m. I am guessing he joined for around 10m? A bit less?
How on earth can a club watch him (and closely as he was with that club) and determine he is worth more now, than what LIverpool paid for him. He has proved an extremely disappointing signing, the 14m has to be a mistake, has to be.
It would be amazing for Liverpool if Sunderland somehow went through with it.
