Fark another frustrating game that got away from us !
Seriously we had enough chances to take the points, wtf is going on with our ball control at times - Sterling has lost his touch, double footing the ball when in the box that should have been hitting the net, then another similar, then a few balls given straight to the opposition when in attack. Yer ok within 3min he struck the back of the net - offside.
Mario mario mario, he's pushing it in desperation to hit the net, 2-3 times in good position offside, other times not moving quick enough into space, then he's holding the ball too long, give it and get the return Mario.
Nice spot kick but straight to the keeper.
Lovrens header should have hit the target instead hitting the ground first making it an easy save for their keeper.
Markovic drove one wide.
Their goal was from our error not being there to clear the ball after Mignolets one arm save, got to take your opportunities and that they did.
Huge win for Basel you could tell from the final whistle.
We created enough - but once again pay the price just as for all got to take your chances !
We miss so much the mobility of Suarez damn we need Sturridge back, we need to score goals don't care who pops them :x

Hard earned win but I was mainly happy with the way we played for large parts of the game. Lallana's been getting better every game he plays

I had to hit the sack by HT being 1up, yes Lallana's finish was great, class footwork by him leading up to the strike.
He's starting to hit his game with us, need him to keep it up, Continho is having trouble hitting his marks for now.

I won't blame Lovren, he's a solid cb and it looked line ball in the pen area.
Our play was sound for most, Lambert was just that fraction behind the ball, he run his guts out.

Last years squad would have had a great chance but currently were in not even in 1st gear.
We have Lambert,Borini and seriously out of form Balo missing an open goal, at least Raheem hit back his knockers last game.
I'm sure the lads will fight till the end being at home but for the life of me don't know what to expect 8-[ but I will watch in hope and [-o< importantly we are playing in the CL :)

I don't think it will be as one sided as many are predicting, it should be a close game, the next game in Spain might be though.

On Balotelli though, I wouldn't say he is out of form, it's just him. Brilliant mixed with woeful.

Sure, Mario has always had that inconsistant form, his Milan tenure returned 26 from 43 appearances, he's only played 5 games to date, be great he breaks his duck v's real !

I really fucking hope we don't start Balo. As Gerrard said, can't have any passengers in this game. I'd fucking play Borini, at least he'll run around and pressure. We have creativity and x-factor in the midfield who can make things out of nothing, Balo is just a waste of space at this point.

Didn't see the match but I take it from the reaction on twitter that Balotelli lived up to his expectations.

Still early days but I think it's pretty safe to say that the gamble won't pay off.

He will be benched for at least 2 weeks probably for the half time shirt swap.

Not so much needing Sturridge but at least another striker to play off. We play better with the diamond, it showed last night once we switched - even if we didn't score, we looked a lot more likely.

Guess we can be happy with the clean sheet, that's about it.

Typically a hard game against the swans, Shelvey always does his best against us.
Balo coming off the bench finally SCORES from a Borini pass - hoobloodyray.
Coutinho played a top game and delivered a free kick for Loveren to head scoring the winner 4min from the end.

Hopefully this builds up some confidence and we finally get on a roll starting with the coming Toons match.

BR knows Coutinho is a pivotal attacking player for us, his form has been ordinary, as said hopefully this late win inspires the lads for they needed this big time. A loss or drawn game would have kept us in a hole.

Diamond suits us best but depends on the opponents and having all the right players available as we know.

Coutinho has been getting better each game, so hoping it continues.

TBH, just need a consistent back 4 and a lot of work together on the training pitch. We keep chopping and changing it's not going to matter who you bring in.

How Rogers has gone from the heights of last season to serving up this crap is beyond me.

He scored so many goals. Not only typical striker stuff, but bombs from outside the box and could produce insane finishes from anywhere on the field. Losing him means not only have they lost goals from up front, but outside the box too. Sturridge being injured doesn't help but having Suarez with the goalscoring pressure on him might've helped Sturridge. Guess we'll see when he returns.

Our play is stagmented, losing Suarez's mobility in open play is even more evident imo, we played awesum counter attack due to this that had defense's on the back foot , he would smash one in if not push onto a free Sturridge or Sterling goals were a coming.
Now we look to go forward but have no point man running into the open, we then play it back to retain possesion.
No one is looking to break the line enough, Raheem needs to stay on their last man and look for the through ball or open it wide recieving, opens them up. He's got oddles of pace and were not using it.
Sturridge will come in with no match fitness, going to be tuff hoping he turns things around but his skill maybe enough to create and someone finally hits the net !

The weird thing is the build up is so slow. Liverpool were so good last season at playing fast attacking football and not letting defences settle.

WTF is going on they were so boring to watch last night...
