Wow, after he stayed in 2005 I just assumed he'd retire at Liverpool.

Sad indeed but as Carra said I think it's best for everyone.
It was always going to be hard to drop in even if it was going to be best for everyone. In truth I didn't see him in our first XI next season but you can't imagine him sitting on the bench. Not good for him, not good for us really paying someone such huge money who isn't a key player anymore.
I think he'll go to MLS and make big money and retire there in a few years and then come back to us in a coaching role.
He'll be back, not worried about that.
Absolute legend. Thanks for everything Stevie. My fav hero Gerrard moment still has to be the 90th min goal v West Ham in FA Cup Final. So good.

Sad day even though we all knew it was coming. Carried the club on his shoulders, one of the all time greats.
Thanks Stevie, YNWA.

Well, typically its SG stepping up steadying the squad. No Cup game is easy for any PL team visiting the smaller clubs territory and trust the dons testing out our backline on the turn. Whilst they were settling in we played sound football that created SG's well taken header running into the box, what a typical goal to watch and befitting after this weeks headlines. To gain a brace after a well taken spot kick remind us what we lose come the end of the season  WTF Maquillo, how many times he beat his opposing RB in the 1st half following on too deep being selfish instead of cutting the ball back inside for a better opportunity :x Importantly we get through Bolton next at home. Got to love their 16stone cult figure striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, a Liverpool fan - you could just tell before koff he was going to trouble us  and good luck to him scoring.

Another win, nice work.
In other news:
Suso completed a medical at AC Milan on the weekend, joining them on a free at the end of the season. A real shame in my view, hope this doesn't come back to bite us.
Assaidi is being recalled from his loan at Stoke so that he can be transferred to the middle east, 4.7 million pounds apparently. Can't believe we will make a profit on him.

Clean sheet stats are obviously not the be all and end all for keepers but considering the way the two are talked about you'd be forgiven for not believing Mignolet has the same number of clean sheets as De Gea

However has conceded 1 more goal.

I know I have been one who has criticised his patchy form and I'm not alone, I hope he gained confidence and stays to form till season end. Nearing the end of Jan - BR had said Sturridge would be back this month, anyone got any other info from elsewhere ?

By all reports an excellent performance this morning and we were unlucky not to win. Good to see the performances are picking up.
Will be hard to get a win at Stamford Bridge but anything is possible.

yer imno nice to read the reports on a good performance against the form team to date, especially after they giving the swans a shellacking they would have been on the high. Read we dominated and created very well, BR saying were getting back to the form of season past is good spin to the press. I think he said Sturridge is nearing fitness but most likely not for the return leg at the bridge.

Nice to have Sturridge back ! getting on the score sheet with a well taken strike. The SS are back - be it the locals. Clean sheet bonus.

Coutinho signed on till 2020. Very happy with this, he's amazing to watch, so important to how we play football and we've got him for another 5 years. :)

Very happy with the contract decision. On another topic .. I reckon after winning the AC GK of the tournament, Maty Ryan is one step closer to becoming a Liverpool player. Would take the #1 off Jones as well.

yer I spotted the re signing the other day. I was watching the hammer replay last night and his feint to shoot then change to right side putting the ball through for Sturridge's goal :) he is class, we need him to keep on his game. I can't wait till Sturridge is match fit, saying that I see he may start up :) Note - :( SG's last derby tomorrow, I'm sure the lads are going to work that much harder, got to go out a winner on this one. The Ryan scenario watching with interest - I feel for Jones though. Anyone see about the Warrior brand phased out via parent company New Balance.

Having said that, given his rate of development he would probably make light work of Mignolet.

Yeah, the NB deal is being quoted at 50M a season which is double what we are getting with Warrior. Be nice to have a bit of extra cash. Hopefully they lose their penchant for crazy 2nd and 3rd kits and keep it simple.
