So it's ok for Brendan Rogers to say that Spurs wasted $100mil after the Bale sale and yet when Liverpool does EXACTLY the same thing it's 'too early to tell'?

Manchester being the exception due to the stupid amount of money up there. It's why we didn't sign Alexis Sanchez

A popular, charismatic manager with a decent history would sway a few players. Then if there's a strong nucleus to that team, coupled with the famous Anfield support...things could build from there...
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Getting Ancelotti or Klopp is a gamble because they're untried at the club- there's the chance it could create even more instability. At least Rafa is popular with the players, the club and the fans, and he seems to regard Liverpool as something more than just a club on his ex's list. Best case scenario he gets another legitimate chance at building Liverpool into cup winners and title contenders again (after Hicks/ Gillett fucked his plans over last time). Worst case scenario? It tanks. So what? Couldn't be any worse than Woy, or the shit that's been dished out the past month. You know that with Rafa, even if the League results were going shit that we'd go a long way in at least one of the Cup competitions on offer... Rafa is off to Madrid by the sound of things

Good job! Pretty sure BR said that because the manager at the time, AVB didn't get much say on the players who should be brought in, and then fired him before he could do anything with them. I disagree either club spent $100mil though. If i sell my Xbox for $100 to get 5 games for my PS3 for $150. Did I just spent $150 or $50 on improving my console?

I got it from a vine with audio  The comparison is that Liverpool and Spurs sold their biggest players for huge sums of money and spent it (poorly) on several players who've been shit. It's not about net spending. If it's about net spending then Tottenham, with 0 debt are doing bloody well to be in 5th. The simple fact is that Rogers had a dig at Spurs saying they should be challenging for a title (can't recall the exact words) with the amount of money they spent (aka they wasted it) and yet Liverpool spends a very similar amount and every bleeding heart fan is deflecting away from how similar the circumstances are saying 'it's too early to tell' or 'we had too many injuries' etc etc. I'd expect even Liverpool fans to accept the irony of the situations which are very similar.

I can see the irony, but I think its a bit simplistic. And I also don't take into account what BR says about a small club a year ago into consideration for my opinions. I said its too early to say it ALL was wasted since we spent 60mil of it on players 20 or younger and Origi couldn't even play for us. If you want to have a laugh at the 40 mil we spent on Lovren, Lambert and Ballotelli go ahead. I'm pretty sure i've got some sigable quotes on how much I though Balo was gonna kill it for us

Maybe you should have a look at the current UEFA rankings ;) I can always count on fans of the traditional big 4 to throw up the 'big club' arrogance every now and then. Well Can, Moreno, Lallana, Lambert, Ballotelli, Markovic and Lovren haven't exactly done anything, especially given the price tags. It's an easy (if simplistic) comparison to buying Capoue, Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado, Chadli, Paulinho and Vlad Chiriches. At least Eriksen and Chadli have performed decently (much like Lallana I guess). The other fact is last season you were challenging for the title. This season you've fallen to 6th. At least Spurs with all their big spends have stayed consistent ;)

Are they the kinds of signings that are going to get us in the top 4 though? Interesting to see who we go for next.

We know how Milner will play week in week out - ala Lucas style work rate but more attacking. Sound pick up. Always seems to be there when needed thankfully in our shirt from now on. Ings, could be a surprise packet or struggle to meet the standards needed - we shall see. We need more quality for the backline.

Decent fixture list, at least we have the opportunity to get rid of the Britannia demons first up.
We have Arsenal followed by Utd (both at home) with only a four day break in Jan too.
