I dont listen to todays rap either. I listen to west coast gangsta rap mainly. Eazy-E is the best. I only got into Bone last week. I only listen to their older stuff before bizzy bone left.
I do listen to some rock as well but mainly rap/hip-hop. Soulja Boy is a POP artist IMO. Aren't you supposed to be on a time-out for another three weeks?? ;) o:)

Edited by Nico: 8/7/2008 01:46:30 PM I just meant no ones talking about any other genres apart from rock. I dont expect you to like and to talk about all genres. It was just an observation. Nothing aimed at anyone.

Quote:Yeah. No ones exposed to much more than rock??? Uh, no. Rap/Hip hop/RnB was 'pop' up until a couple of years ago. That's all you'd hear on the radio. Now it's dance. Rock sub-genres now play second fiddle - even then it's mostly soft-rock and punk/emo stuff. That's why I loved listening to the radio when I was living in the US, such a huge variety in radio stations and music. Edited by martyB: 8/7/2008 02:49:24 PM

You lived in the US? Was that for baseball or something? They have a wider range of stations cause they have a wider range of people. If you went to Cali then youd get all the gangsta rap stations and mexican ones aswell. I dunno if its them but i get some on my psp on the radio app.

Listen to this song. It has the maddest beat ever. There should be more like this. This sorta rap is dead though. Sadly.

Quote:Don't you hate it when CD's mysteriously go walkabout? Oh yeah. I had fucking Salival by Tool (Look it up, this is a $200 album on Ebay that is incredibly hard to get) and some cunt flogged it. Quote:Listen to this song. It has the maddest beat ever. There should be more like this. This sorta rap is dead though. What was that Toupac song...the really popular one he did...his "defining" sing if you will, I listened to that the other day and it was pretty good. Like Suicide - Seether...such a mad album Warm Machine - Bush. Hit The Road Jack - Ray Charles.

Quote:Yeah. No ones exposed to much more than rock??? Totally challenge that. I listen to all sorts of music. And some of it is very good. lotta older stuff too. But the title of this thread states "fave songs" and they're not my favs.

I think your thinking of Changes by Tupac?
Edit: I think Tupacs music is in a league of his own in the rap genre tbh. Hes rap is miles above anything ive really heard. Its smooth, and he even has a whole lot of laid back songs.

Brendas got a baby. Hit em up. One of those two maybe???
Real hardcore fans think he is about the 3rd best ever. Nas and Rakim they rate higher. Thats like pure lyrical judgement though. Not really me. Im more G-funk, gangsta rap cause in my opinion it sounds better.

Gangsta tears boy ain't nothing.
I don't really buy that fans see them in that specific order. In fact, i dont at all. Especially if your discounting the influential groups, like NWA, Wu-Tang, Jurassic 5, Public Enemy, who have had some massive rappers like Chuck D, Ol Dirty and Method Man as well as the obvious ones like Snoop and Dre.

Quote:I think your thinking of Changes by Tupac? possibly...He layed into 'biggy', but I don't think that will narrow it down for some reason. I dont' really follow hip hop so yeah...bear with me:P I think mk got it with "hit 'em up" ...kinda enjoyed it whatever it was. I probably know both of them but it's not registering. Quote: I think Tupacs music is in a league of his own in the rap genre tbh. Hes rap is miles above anything ive really heard. Yeah, it's Toupac...Daylight...someother old rap and Scribe before he made it big...daylight...other rap and top 40 shit *spits* And the next hip hop artist to cover a classic...ie every breath you take by sting...fffuuuuccckkk!

Sounds like Hit em up then, that song is one big "dissing" of Biggie.

Yeah hit em up used to be my favourite song. I liked the bit at the end where he just digs into "Badboy", its way better if you understand word for word what hes on about.
Heres the top ten(no order): 2pac, Nas, Rakim, KRS-ONE, Ice Cube, Scarface, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z

Ive got the ultimate song. Theres a lesson one and a lesson two. Two parts. Its NWA and mainly MC Ren, the biggest G still breathing, killing it. Very entertaining.
*explicit lyrics dont press if you are gonna be offended.

And the only part 1/2 song that's any good together is Wings parts one and two of 10,000 days by Tool, but you've got to play them at the same time, pan them right and left and cue up wings 2 and Vignti Tres out the left speaker and wings part one out the right speaker and it sounds like the entire sound/band/everything is spinning around you. It's amazing if you can do it. Quote:Thats what i said first off but it turns out he had a career before his rock days. The guys 40. I still can't forgive him for that. He trashed some songs I loved at the time. And he's scum in my eyes.

Second only to...was it Shaniah Twain covering ACDC?? That was awful, good thing it was a once off in concert. And p-diddy (-in my pants) and his cover of Sting's every breath you take (as above mentioned).
