I didn't see a spot , judging off the actual replay it looked like it hit the part of the bat that was facing away from the hot spot camera.

Two pretty easy ways to tell Bell hit it. Firstly his eyes followed the ball into Haddins gloves, which you only do if you hit it. Secondly, he went up to Stokes and said he hit it

I think we have video reviews to create the impression of umpire impartiality, especially with India providing so much revenue to world cricket.

I'd be happy to do away with it but then don't complain the next time India gets a raft of questionable decisions going their way. Or anyone else for that matter.

The main issue with the DRS system is that it costs in excess of $50,000 per test match making it impractical for many matches.

Telling for England that their two best batting performances of the series have come from Joe Root (22 years old) and Ben Stokes (22 years old).

With the series lost they should really be giving caps to Gary Ballance (24), Johnny Bairstow (24- his efforts in the last ashes should be forgotten) and more time to Steven Finn (24).

Its bit of a pity for them that Broad got injured, as T20 vice captain and Test and ODI vice-captain, Cook could have been dropped and Broad promoted.

Cook shouldn't and won't be dropped. The guy is absolute class, and 3 poor tests doesn't change that. Hell, out of his 6 dismissals 2 were absolutely unplayable deliveries

Drop Cook? You could make a case for taking the captaincy from him (and even then...) but dropping him altogether, just

And Prior's VC of the test side not Broad.

Bring Bairstow back, no thanks. Stokes has done in two tests what Bairstow has failed to do in 12, plus he can bowl. I've been calling for him to come into the side for a while now, he could be the new Fred Flintoff. Looks like we've finally found our number 6, shame all the other batting positions have now suddenly come into question

Besides, people were saying these things about this team after the failure against Pakistan, and the 2-0 series loss at home to South Africa. In the period since about 2010 that we've kept the core of this side together, we've won the Ashes in Australia for the first time in 23 years, whitewashed India at home to become the number 1 side in the world, gone to the subcontinent where the team had been dismal against spin the previous summer and came from 1-0 down to sweep aside the Indians and win 2-1, and of course won the Ashes for the third time in a row without losing a match. We've gone from being lauded as the greatest side to play the game in recent years to the most overrated side there's ever been.

We might blood a few players in the next two tests, I'd like to see Tymal Mills get a game just cos' fuck it, why not? but I wouldn't expect the side that lines up in the first test against Sri Lanka in the English summer to be dramatically different to the one that played in Perth.

The idea of dropping Cook is laughable. He's one of their most consistent performers. And despite the entire England team's performances lacking he's still averaged 25.66.

It's not just 3 poor tests. He was poor in the northern Ashes as well. Since the start of the Ashes over there he's scored 5 50's in 16 innings, with a highest score of 72. In this 16 innings he's scored 431 runs at an average of 26.9. That's poor no matter which way you look at it

Simply mentioned Bairstow because hes in the squad. Yes he had a poor 12 tests but a no pressure Ashes game might be just whats needed to find his feet.

I'd rather try the likes of Moeen Ali or Sam Robson from the development squad before Bairstow.

That's more or less comparable to all the other English batsmen though, so why should he be dropped over anyone else?

I know the guy is 34 and their hopes of retaining the Ashes is over, but fuck that's poor form quitting mid series.
