Yeah, went to the Melbourne show this year, and it was actually really well set-up, but apparently that was just a one off, hopefully they build on that for all cities next year.

Out of those actual leaked bands, only Lacuna Coil (read: Cristina Scabbia:p) interests me. But yeah, would go mental if LOG or Unearth are there. It's great that Soundwave is getting a lot of support/bigger, especially now that the BDO seems to have turned its back on metal/punk bands. Australia needs a properly big touring festival dedicated to metal/punk/alternative music.

Yep, and the metal stage idea was brilliant. The year before was a much smaller event if i remember, so its progressing quite well. I've heard that 3 legendary exponents of rock are meant to be on the list too, will be interesting...

I really can't believe that there isn't a market, or that it isn't being used, for a metal exclusive festival to be touring the country. Blues and Roots goes off, so why not more metal?

Edit: And Marta Peterson of Bleeding Through is much better than Scabbia :p

Yeah, the year before was Sydney, Brisbane and Perth only from memory, so yeah, its definitely growing well. I heard that rumour too, interested to see who they consider 'legendary'. Sex Pistols FTW?:p

I think there is a market, but its still too big a risk to try and base a full touring festival around. They can't do a one off show ala Wacken or Download, because for a lot of people it would cost too much/be too much trouble to travel. ATM, I think Soundwave is doing it right, incorporating the whole alternative scene together, rather than doing a single punk festival, then a metal festival etc.

That said, the metal scene in Australia is constantly growing. 2/3 years ago, practically no metal bands were touring here, but now we're getting tour after tour after tour. Occasionally some fall through, but most shows are consistantly getting close to a full house, if not selling out entirely. Its a good time to be an Australian Metal head.

EDIT: Hmmmm....its a close run thing....Maria Brink of In This Moment isn't at all bad either...this sounds like a job for the hottest women thread.

The Aussie tour scene is better in every aspect though. Not just metal, but yeah, its great to see all the bands we can choose from, if only money wasn't in the way. :p

My last.fm account keeps recommending Nas to me, I really should give him a listen. Haven't been in a rap mood of late, cept Beastie Boys the other day if you want to count them as rap. Seen Common live too, he's a fairly decent rapper.

I couldnt put a face to Common. Then i watched a clip before and straight away knew he was the guy of "Sreet kings" which i watched only a couple of days ago and "Smokin Aces". Never really listened to him much though. What i have heard though ive liked. NAS is touted as the best rapper ever so right now im thinking i should try and listen to him more. Hes never really taken my fancy but hopefully ill grow to like him. Im heavily into Tupac's softer stuff, dear mama, keep ya head up, changes, etc.

Heres a weird one. May have mentioned it ages ago. Johnny Cash - Hurt. Something about it. I dunno what. I thought it might be a bit cooler listening to the 9I9 version but for me it just doesnt do as much.

Cash made Hurt his own, even some of the most obsessive NIN fans will admit that. Both versions are amazing, but Cash just adds something to it.

Tbh, I didn't like ti that much when NIN did it. It's in the wrong spot on the album to have the full indended effect. Dunno where you'd put it though...perhaps in the mid-album lull taht reznor always seems to have.

[rant=mk0825]Fuck im angry. I was talking to this punk ass kid who was telling me tupac was shit and that tech 9, lil wayne and kanye west are the best ever. Telling me to stop listening to it because "Hes dead man". Shits me. Apparently all music is shit once the artist dies. So all the fuss about elvis is a waste of time because hes dead. And i also asked if tech 9 died tomoz would he delete his music straight away. The fuckwit said he would delete it. The punk kept going and was telling me how the mid-west is the best and More gangsta than the West Coast. Harder than Kansas harder than LA. What was he smoking?[/rant]

At the moment you cant get much realer than what im listening to atm. NAS, Tupac, Biggie, Common.

Fave song atm: All Eyez On Me - Tupac

Man that guy is sad. I'm not a fan of rap, but Tupac was defo one of the best rappers I've ever heard. It just shows how dumb the kid is. Personally, I blame the parents, they should tell him that only idiots listewn to Kanye.

Just getting into some old skool Black Sabbath ATM.

By the way, what do people think of the Kid Rock copy of Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama. IMO it sucks, the originals are way better

Has anyone heard the new AC/DC song. They played it at around 4:05 on Nova 93.7. IMO it was brilliant. I'm actually a big fan of Acadaca, and this song, Rock 'n Roll Train, was fantastic, sounded like old skool AC/DC, it's good they haven't lost it.

I used to be a massive fan of Slipknot, they were the band that got me into metal, alongside SOAD. But then I got over them, and never really listened to em much, This album has changed that, It's really that good. Its a grower, takes a few listens for some of the songs to sink in, but otherwise its a very good album IMO. Worth checking out.

Actually, it's mad as. Their 'traditional' fans won't like it as much, but it's in that space between StoneSour and Slipknot and it's a good album.=

Psychosocial is a good track, but Gehenna has this amazing dark/gloomy quality to it, and it also has Corey's best vocals on it IMO. And any "traditional" fans were already scared off by VOl.3 tbh.
