nothing but flat track bullying

Heres a thought, how will they go if they Pakistan in the UAE? Lose inside 4 days, score at 4 runs an over though

In terms of the game itself: the job for Australia was so much easier when NZ bowled all over the place in the first session yesterday

usually when the australian cricket team play at the gabba they play on two pitches

one pitch for australia to bat on

and the other for Australia to bowl on

EDIT - Look at the crowd for the india, south africa test series, its no bigger than the crowd at park cricket!

So we win by 208 runs.

Apparently Australia hasn't lost the opening game of the summer in Brisbane since 1988? Incredible record!

Great start to the series. However I still worry about or ability away from home. On an Indian test wicket or back to England.

With Southee out, the series probably won't be competitive. Boult can't carry the attack by himself. On the plus side, Williamson is batting like a god. What a player.

As for the Gabba, it is probably the worst pitch in Australia. There is just nothing for the bowlers after the new ball. I can't remember a single competitive match from there in the last 20 years.

Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan (when they play Tests again) and Bangladesh all have similar wickets.

I like watching this type of cricket when pitches are conducive to spin. Having a spinner at each end means a lot of cricket. The Indian spinners are good to watch in India. Mishra, Ashwin and Jadeja bowled well with drift, flight and spin.

Aaron and Yadav also bowled at a fair clip too in the overs they bowled. Every ball I saw them bowl was well over 140kph.=d>

Usually they get enormous crowds. I think this ground is an anomaly. Something like 25 kilometres out of a city centre, like Nagpur.

Any game in Bangalore, Chennai, Calcutta, Delhi or Bombay usually generate enormous crowds - one country whose crowds are bigger than Australia's.

Definitely.

The Kiwis drew with England 1-1 after England flogged us 3-2.

NZ were better in England than us. On Australian pitches we have a huge advantage, with conditions we are familiar with, and suit us, against all opponents apart from South Africa.

England were also far more competitive in the UAE against Pakistan. In the last series, most in Oz didn't see us play Pakistan in the UAE unless they had pay TV.

Pakistan thrashed us in the most one-sided series I've seen an Aussie team play . Ostensibly, before that series started we were ranked number 1.#-o

Brisbane shows we are a good side at home playing opponents who are not used to bouncy pitches.

I just hope Burns and Kawaja can perform away from their home ground. At their ages, of 26 and 28, we really need them to perform consistently, because there is little batting talent in the 25-30 age group in the rest of Australia if they don't.

Voges should never have come into the team at his age. It simply demonstrates the dearth of talent in the age bracket which is supposedly the best age for test cricketers.

Williamson was outstanding on a pitch unfamiliar to him.

His temperament was phenomenal. The Kiwis were under a lot of pressure and wickets were fallen around him. He didn't look like getting out until he did in both innings.

Agreed, While it is great to watch us dominate down here and see players score 100s it will be interesting to see us ousdie Australia.

Question is thou do you say to our test players focus on the longer version and when not playing here go to county cricket in England and gain expeirance over there, OR do you say go play 20/20 with the stars and have a slog.

Don't think the day night test will help crowds their either. Even dare I say it north Sydney oval or as I said Canberra. 6-10K crowds there would look better there than the Gabba with not even half the stadium full

I've attended two day/night Shield games in Hobart.

Most like the format. We saw more spectators, but not as many as we'd like.

He's looking like he'll be about as good as Ponting or Clarke and average in the low 50s which will put him rightly as NZs greatest ever batsman, but the comparison to Bradman is embarrassing and shows complete ignorance to the history of the game.

He will have to average about 150 for the rest of his career to be that good.

David Warner has a better record. Better average, more hundreds and fifties, more runs and only played two more tests than Williamson.

The problem isn't people not wanting to go to the cricket, its that people don't want to spend over $30 on test match cricket.

Make tickets $10, kids go free; and watch the crowds come flooding back. As it stands they are charging premium prices for second class events.

I Would prefer going to a Shield game over a test match. Alot cheaper. Better Matches and peaceful.

I was a little disappointed with the crowd, but it was the highest ever for a game between Aus and NZ in Brisbane. Adult tickets were $40 and every day there was a significant chance of rain.

The big crowd issues will be the 3 tests against the Windies. Could see some really low numbers.

Boxing day is going to be a horrible test. Might be better off playing Victoria vs Australia on Boxing Day.
