Dandaloo still the kings of Illawarra Premier League

Turns out Lions have it all over Zebras after all.
After surrendering an expected premiership to Port Kembla, Dandaloo mauled the black and whites 3-1 in yesterday's grand final.

The Crehan Park showdown was billed as the stoush to determine the true kings of the Illawarra Premier League jungle, and the Lions bared their fangs.

A healthy-sized crowd of 3275 witnessed Dandaloo pounce on their second consecutive grand final trophy to go with the preseason and Bampton Cup titles they snared earlier this year.

Ilija Prenzoski was a beast for the winners, with a goal either side of half-time, while big-game hunter Alvin Ceccoli hit the target with a free kick for the second time in as many grand final appearances.

Kick-off was delayed 15 minutes due to a serious injury in the youth grade clash and Aden Wade could have put the Zebras in front after less than 30 seconds, but shanked his shot over the crossbar after being played in by Matt Sini.

Sini nodded a corner just wide moments later, but Dandaloo's Chris Jackson hit the woodwork at the other end in the 11th minute.

Dandaloo grabbed the all-important first goal off Prenzoski's neat, first-time finish to Ben Price's cross in the 14th minute. Prenzoski met the ball in mid-air and sent it past helpless custodian David Poeria.

The Port keeper did deny Prenzoski a second, two minutes later, after a probing Ceccoli corner. However, he could do nothing about the Ceccoli free kick that made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute.

The ex-Socceroo's shot evaded the pack in the penalty area, skidded off the turf and nestled in the bottom corner.

Port were back within one goal less than 60 seconds later, when Matt Radman scored.

Dandaloo sunk their claws into the title when Prenzoski scored his second, 19 minutes into the second period.

From there, the Lions suffocated all Port Kembla attacks.

Quite impressive if correct, perhaps Wollongong could support an A-League franchise when the new TV deal is negotiated.
