Although I don't think it will be because he has Australia as a second nationality and the 2nd marquee is an international one. I think.

Yeah I was thinking that too, but he is an NZ international, so therefore would most likely be counted as a foreign player.

Correct me if I'm wrong on the following points; but NZers are foreign players in the A-League (except for the Nix), each club is allowed a foreign marquee, an Australian marquee and a youth marquee, GCU's Aussie marquee is Jason Culina, GCU are looking to buy a foreign marquee.
Now Smeltz moved to NZ when he was 1, but then moved across the Tasman at age 7, where he spent his childhood. He is a current NZ international and was at youth level too therefore he has to be a NZ citizen, however as of 2009, he also became an Australian citizen.
So the only thing I don't know is would he be eligible to count as GCUs foreign marquee as he has dual citizenship?
