As for timing, I think January is fine. Avoids conflict with a lot of other sporting events that take place mid year and coincides with the end of most Asian leagues, doesnt it? Plus from an Australian perspective, good weather, other sports except cricket not on, generally a feel good time of year. I'd say most Germans see Japan or South Korea as the winner. They normally laugh at a group with Oman and Kuwait but many big European teams need to work hard to beat teams like Faroe Islands, Armenia or Kazakhstan. I appreciate the Germans who can see our qualities. Although few, most like the never give up spirit. It's difficult though as most comment on Australian football by only seeing the final score and won't believe that we pushed Chile and Holland.
