Poor old Kyrgy's got the group of death in group A, would have liked to have seen them play in Dubai after watching them play against the socceroos last year but I cant see them getting Top 2 in that group sadly. Group B - very weak. Whoever comes runner up will likely be the whipping boys of the Asian Cup (excluding Vietnam but I think they'll top the group). Group C pretty much the same quality as Group B except it has no standout like Vietnam in group B. I hope Guam or Bhutan can get up into the Top 2 in Group D. Would love to see either of them at the Asian Cup. What a fairytale. Will be keen to see updates on these matches.

After what Vietnam has done to our underage teams in recent years, I expect it to start flowing onto their national team soon.

I agree that some of the 12 out of 24 teams that qualify through this stage will definitely be Asian Cup easybeats.

Turkmenistan start strongly with a 3:1 away win in Taiwan.
I'd like to see these teams qualify. Kyrgyzstan, India, Hong Kong, North Korea, Jordan, Vietnam.
Bhutan would be a miracle but Oman and Palestine should get through.
Turkmenistan and Singapore will hopefully be at Bahrain while Tajikistan and Philippines should get out of the last group.

Seeing some of these floggings and countries involved makes me wonder if regional grouping is needed. These teams probably don't have so much money to these trips or are provisions made? This is reward for winning the playoff and doing well in the WC qualification round but how productive is it?

I think by and large these groups will be quite competitive, the only issue is teams that are around 8-15 in Asia are going to win some games by a lot if they happen to be playing the minnows. If the WCQ round had top 16 or top 18 and then there were 6 or 8 Asian Cup spots for the next 20 teams (ie 17-36, or 19-38) in AFC then these 2 blowouts most likely wouldn't have occurred as Oman and Jordan would have made the top tier.
ie Kyrgyzstan Macau 1:0, Philippines Nepal 4:1 were both top seeded at home versus bottom seeded indicating the groups should be quite competitive.

Bahrain, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, India and Jordan all sealed qualification today.
Oman and Palestine got in last month. Kyrgyzstan are in a strong spot. Philippines, Yemen and Tajikistan are in a tight battle for their two spots.
North Korea host Hong Kong with a 3 point lead. Victory by two goals would see Hong Kong make it.
