Well I don't know how else to explain what a statement like - all homosexuals are going to hell - is unless i use the words inciting. It wasn't accepting, I guess I could call it devisive.

And when you sign a contract with a company, especially at this level, your thoughts aren't yours alone, you are a part of the company and your views publicly are those of the company. Like I said before if I had written something like that when I served I would have been out on my arse, because my values are a percieved to be reflection of the the militaries values. As such you also have a public obligation to your contractual employer.

Israel also signed up to a code of conduct, which he had chosen to ignored in making the statements, Israel's point was the code was not legally binding. If you ask me you sign something you own it, including a code of conduct.

His statement didn't actually say that. It was literally a "warning" for drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves thieves and idolators to change their ways because otherwise hell awaits them.   It was paraphrasing of this Bible verse:

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. — 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

He could easily argue that in his statement he is not a condemnation and act and of saviour-he wants to "save" all of those "sinners"-not just homosexuals-from going to hell. Interestingly it became solely about homosexuals and no doubt because of the sponsor ie Alan Joyce. 

Sorry , but my employer doesn't have power over my thoughts.

As for contracts, your employer cannot enforce contract terms which violates your Constitutional rights.  It would be like religious schools requiring homosexual teachers to stop engaging or support of  homosexual conduct outside of the school ,as homosexual conduct is against their School Code of Conduct.

Depending on the nature of the military conduct, they might sack you, but was the dismissal actually tested in Court?

Word like "incite" (and "hate") are merely subjective opinions.    Who did he "incite"?  What did he "incite" them to do? 

As "for obligations to an employer", his obligation was to play rugby to the best of his ability as per the terms of his contract. He did that. 

That his employer caved in to the mob and then acted without proper legal counsel is on the CEO.

By the ARU "sponsor you mean QANTAS CEO Alan Joyce, who had a dog in that fight and wanted to take Folau down.  The ARU should have just told Joyce to GAGF.

As an atheist I don't agree with anything he said and I think he's a giant flog for his stupid medieval beliefs. BUT no way do I think employment contracts should be written up that stop you from professing your beliefs publicly and privately. (As stupid as they may be to me and anyone else.)

Ask any Moslem in the A League if he believes that same sex marriage should be a thing and I guarantee you, if he answers honestly, they'll say no.

Folau was dudded and I'm glad he got paid out. 

But religious nutjobs have to remember free speech works both ways. 

No issues at with that.  Religions and religious people get ridiculed all the time ( some more than others).  Nobody is limiting or seeking to do that  that I'm aware of.

The thing is for some people eg Pacifica's their religion is a core component of their identity, of who they are.  For others, their sexuality is.  But neither of has more "rights" than the other.

And  of course it certainly isn't for your employer to put limits on your self-expression and your right to association outside of the work environment.  I was hoping that Folau's case would get tested in the High Court on this basis.

i think that is the thing we all agree on in Western Nations.....but in the scenario we are in i dont know if Qatar is a nation that believes in 'free speech'

i dare say nations like Russia, UAE, China, Saudi Arabia etc Speech is censored and people are oppressed if they dont 'accept'  what the governments law is then you essentially are silenced.... 

but ill reiterate i'd prefer to keep all this shit out of football it does nothing good for the game

It has nothing to do with the belief structures (even if that's what tweedle dumb and the Sky new team want you to believe).

The ARU was cornered in to taking a position by it major sponsor and supporters.

To have a informed opinion on it, you need to look at the actual quotes rather than second and third hand re-imaginings from people and media with an agenda.

Oh I dont have a dog in the fight either way Enzo. Cassiu's decline into Farrakhan's Nation of Islam is no better or worse in my eyes than this happy clappy jumped up Christ bothering Folau shit.... Im with you on respecting people for standing by their convictions (even if they are wrong in my eyes) I just find one statement to be more worthy of admiration than the other.... my oppinion.

Just what would 'conversation therapy' consist of? Being strapped in a chair and have Enzo and Rusty lecture you on how the 'woke left are ruining western civilisation'?

While SSM and homosexuality is legal here, there are political parties and religious entities that wanna legally discriminate against gays and bring back things such as conversation therapy.

Its hilarious how some people believe Virtue Signalling or being Woke is a bad thing when the opposite is true.

It’s also hilarious when people say “Well why aren’t you boycotting???” There is hardly a country in the world that doesn’t have a bad human rights issue on something. Many countries claim Australia is a human rights abuser due to our stance of offshore detention. Will a country boycott us next year? I bet not. Will anyone speak up about it? Maybe.

That depends on what you understand it to be. "Calling it out" or "releasing a statement" at no personal risk or cost or- worse- participating and benefiting in the very thing they're opposed to IS bad thing because they're not being genuine about it.  Craig Foster is donating his WC broadcast pay to the families of the dead workers.

Carol and Ali were two examples in this thread of sportsmen who boycotted thing they were genuinely against and at personal risk and cost.  They weren't virtue signalling.
