I Absolutly HEART this strip!! Well done!!! It's classic and contempary all at the same time, gives a very striking look to the club and the 2nd strip really complements the 1st... i must admit when i first heard of the heart franchise i envisaged a total midlothian strip or torino/arsenal0506 or even something like the strip russia has been getting around in for their WC quali's (with trims of gold). Although with reebok probably having the rights to the design, we're probably in for somthing alot less inspiring #-o !! It's a great GREAT shame as i see it as one of the biggest tools of marketing the club for fan and corporate support.. Please ditch the red and white idea! even the black and white idea is less appealling especially when there doesn't seem to be a reason to choose the "colours" other than to emulate bigger clubs like Juve or Notts? This approach certainly doesn't buy priceless "history" if thats what they're looking for then we may as well name it Real Melbourne FC or something eqaully tacky as they do in the USA. In saying that though i have no problem with the name 'Heart' strangly enough even though i absolutly detest 'Fury' 'Roar' & 'storm' (altough rugby league is a tacky sport so it ok for them to have tacky names) etc, also i don't like the idea of the FFA "approving" strips let alone colours! This makes the new club sononamous with red and white just because no-one else has done it yet? What? ARE THEY SERIOUS???? WHAT A JOKE!!!! CLUBS REPRESENT THE PERSONS WHO SUPPOSABLY FORM IT, NOT BEN BUCKLEY'S SHITHOUSE MARKETING DEPARTMENT???!!!???? Trying to stay on the subject, the idea's of all shades of blues ala Victory and SMFC i think this new club should try and forge it's nown identity, ditch the "V" on the shirt (unless they wanna be known as the victorie's reserve team) and don't try to be SMFC? because they already exist on their own?!?!? Have the courage to be your own identity and you will earn the respect and support you deserve in doing so.. Also i would personally like to see SMFC, Adeliade city, Marconi or united or olympic etc return to a 2 tiered comp someday in the future but that is another subject altogether.. P.s. Sorry for the long-arse rants from a Mariners fan living in Newcastle agonising for a better a-league tommorrow!

I'd say they'd do well to stay away from just red because of the Adelaide connection - black and white or even red and another colour would be good.

I'd suggest the second Victorian A-league team colours to be Orange and Grey - like the V/Line train colours throughout the 80s and 90s. That would be something uniquely Victorian.
I currently don't have any connection to a team in the A-League but if this second Melbourne team can not have an interesting colour scheme I will not follow them.
I'm not sure what the final decison for the offical name for the club would be but a personal suggestion would be the:
Victoria Voltage
(simular lightening masoct to Port Power - lighting bolt/volt resembling electricity/power)

Great design utdhrt, I like the name hearts and colurs moroon and white/red and white horizontal hoop design. It gives the team some boldness and strength about them, it also looks like a real tradional jersy that any football team in the world would be proud to use and build a strong tradition on. i also think there is a base for the hearts outside of the city, alot of people in outer melb/geelong would support this team if marketed well in there area. And if there worried about the hearts in scotland, they should strike up some sort of relationship with them, that would b great for A league/melbourne hearts.

http://localhostr.com/files/7ca231/melbourne_heart_proposed_kit-1.bmp[/img] This is just a mock up of the "melbourne heart fc" jersey. white and red/marone is the home kit, black and red/marone is the away kit. just a simple classic look. would b better than a sunderland lookalike. I never said that. I won't like it but I will still barrack for them. I go for FC Cartagena in the Spanish second division and they're black and white.

You won't follow a team because they don't have your favourite colour. What are you 7 years old?

Red and Black always look cool, anyway you design eg stripes ala AC Milan, Hoops, half and half, a V like ManU and good contrast with Melb Victory I think thier shopping around for training bases. I read in my local paper that they're talking to Casey council about having casey feilds as their training ground.

If it has to be red and white then I hope they make it red and white hoops. I couldn't bring myself to support a team with the same kit as Sunderland.

Victoria Voltage......that's more disgusting than seeing Magda Szubanski naked! That's so bad I will harm myself with plastic cutlery if they adopt that name. "Let's go Voltage, Lets go" .......that would sure draw the punters, especially those with an IQ lower that 20.

littleronaldo1992 wrote:i think if they are structuring themselves as 'melbourne heart', then they should seriously look into the opportunity of linking up with Hearts of Midlothian in Scotland. Adopt their colours, it would be like Salzburg and New York. And with they young aussies they have in their system, a few potential signings or loanees for their first season? Salzburg and New York are both owned by Red Bull - neither wears 'traditional' colours, they are both walking adverts for the owner's product. As for Heart of Midlothian - well, Heart CLAIM they aren't going to be called Heart, so it would be a pointless link up. If they are going to model their colours on any club it should be an extremely popular one, rather than one of marginal interest like Hearts. Blood red like Liverpool, for example. The actual colours and name are unimportant though - the issue of interest is now more around whether these colours and the name are going to be selected by the 'fans', and how the decision will be made (will a selection of names and colours be offered, or will it be an open vote, etc.).

How about either red or maroon with a gold heart and either white trims. Reverse for away top with gold heart.
