Grella was so off the pace and couldn't pass water last night, but for him to take it out on another player especially in a friendly is a low act! I don't want players representing Australia with dirty things like that. I hope he gets his form back and his mind straight otherwise he shouldn't be playing with his current form and touch. And as for Moore, he should never start, he's lost it! Beauchamp gives us so much more stability. What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Grella Sorry For Horror Tackle? SOCCEROOS midfielder Vince Grella has admitted his two-footed challenge on Leo Bertos was unnecessary and put the All Whites winger within inches of shattering his World Cup dream.Have your say.

"I think maybe a little bit too hard in the tackle and it's probably not needed in a friendly game but it's a part of the football"
Maybe a little too hard? It reminded me of Danny Tiatto at his worst. Disgraceful and pre-meditated. "The part of the football" that was missing was an instant red-card and multi-game suspension. Grella will simply be a liability in South Africa.

There should be a rule that if a player takes out another player with a reckless tackle that results in injury, then the culprit should be out of the game for as long as the injured player is sidelined. Bloody disgraceful, Grella but not surprising.

Grella is a fucking idiot. With a world cup bid meaning everything we do in the football world going under the microscope, he lauches into a stupid 2 footed challenge all beacuse he was rattled by a kiwi team that were outplaying him, making him look pedestrian.
With a bit of luck, he has crossed his name off the starting lineup against Germany. We cant carry loose cannon's who will go flying in when we lose composure. And with our group tough enough as is, going down to 10 men wont help.
As for craig moore, its hard to single him out (although he was shit) as the whole defence was shithouse. Craig Moore looked out of his depth and will get his arse handed to him should he start in the WC. Lu-cash Neill needs a boot up the arse too, his ego alone wont carry us to the 2nd round. He is a wanker of epic proportions.
I hope Pim uses this as a reality check. Yes, we won the game but only cos the Kiwi's got experimental in the 2nd half. Our 1st half performance showed we could get three epic beatings in the WC, our 2nd half showed us cause for optimism

Awful tackle. Real Kevin Muscat/Danny Tiato desperation stuff. Could've broken the guys leg and for what? Things aren't going your way so you start playing the man and not the ball? That's weak at best.
...And then he had the balls to start calling the ref shit for giving him a yellow card for the tackle? WTF?
In saying all that...love ya Vinnie and I hope you get your shit together in time for the cup!

Recently in an interview they asked Grella if he was interested in playing in the A-league in the future and he flatly said "no". Compared with the other Socceroos mostly gave pragmatic answers "maybe later in my career","yes" or "well see". Grella's just stunk of arrogance. Then he mouths off at NZ and does exactly what he said was unproffessional. I think we really had a good look at Grella's real character last night. Time for Jedinak or Valeri to step up.

You've got to wonder what kind of things Bertos said to Grella and Cahill for them to both want to break his legs!

Grella's mental state is a concern. He seemed to be in a rotten mood last night. And what the hell was that shot from halfway about?
Having said that, there's no way I don't want him in the starting 11 every game. Pim's given him a public raking, he's acknowledged it. Now get your head down and work hard in SA, Vinny. We need ya!

From his comments he said...to me he shows what a stupid dumb fuck he is..really he is a complete dickhead, like how could he say that the tackles were a little to hard like common they were very hard FFS!!! also hes ranting to the ref to me shows a player whos got no respect for the game at all. Also if he possibly changes his mind in playing in the a-league, to me i wouldnt pay my money to watch him at all, cos hes like a Muscat/Tiatto they are all hacks, they just represent bad role models for our game in this country! Really poor form Vinnie!!!

To be fair Brown was injured in a completely innocent situation where he just fell awkwardly. No malice etc.

Sadly out of touch, out of form. An instant red card in any other meaningful game. Could be a liability at the Cup.

I can't wait for Pim to announce the squad, last night Moore showed he can't play anymore, his defending was very poor, and his timing... shocking!!!!!!,C'mon Craig be honest to yourself and quit before it's to late.

All Whites vice-captain Tim Brown's World Cup dream is in serious doubt.
Brown is on a plane to Auckland after scans this morning revealed he has a fractured shoulder.
The midfielder went to hospital last night after falling heavily on his shoulder during the first half of the All Whites' 2-1 loss to the Socceroos.
A New Zealand Football (NZF) spokesman today confirmed CT and MRI scans in Melbourne had revealed the fracture.
The full extent on the injury is not yet known but Brown will miss the European leg of the All Whites' World Cup build-up and though he is hopeful of joining the team in South Africa, he could well miss the World Cup.
NZF are awaiting further results before deciding whether Brown will be replaced for the trip to Europe.
Herbert said Brown would be given every opportunity to rejoin the squad in South Africa but conceded if surgery was necessary the rehabilitation time frame could sabotage those plans.
Wellington midfielder Cole Peverley, one of seven players on standby to cover injuries to the 23-man squad, is the likely replacement should Brown be ruled out.
Meanwhile, midfielder Leo Bertos has been cleared to travel to Europe after concerns over his right leg - crunched in crude challenges by Vince Grella and Tim Cahill - eased.
Bertos sustained a gash on his lower leg but escaped serious injury.

The best we have played in recent years - Ireland and Nigeria - Grella wasn't there.

Yeah on last night's disgraceful performance I would rather play Valeri or Jedinak, they both looked in good touch and have been playing regularly unlike Grella who has been bench warming for Blackburn.

Love Vinnie. Last of the Socceroos hard men. People seem to forget that had Vinnie not smashed Bertos like a bag of Crisps there would have been nothing memorable in that first half at all.
Vinnie is a necessary evil and I love his commitment to a challenge. Craig however can go back to the strikers.

One thing is for sure, Pim Verbeek's got some serious head kicking to do over the next two weeks. I hope he hasn't gone soft due to his love for this team with apparently "no egos". What they need is some Guus Hiddink style tough-love. Grella and Moore are on notice, Neill needs to start captaining the side on the pitch (not just off it) and if Tim Cahill wants to carry on like that he can sit his arse back on the bench.

At least Timmy went for the ball. Grella was going to take Bertos out, wasnt even interested in the ball. If we play like that against an "A-League" NZ (and a A-League coach) ,imagine us at the WC ???Dare I say it will be a disaster of Biblical Proportions:oops:

Grella was so far off the pace last night, made poor decisions, and was frustrated by being outplayed by NZ. I would feel more comfortable with a DM pairing of Wilkshire and Jedinak - a good balance of technique and physicality. Jedinak was good last night, and would more than hold his own against the Germans. As for Wilkshire, he's wasted on the right. Put him where the action will be. I hope Pim picks a side on form, rather than reputation - though by selecting Craig Moore, he seems to have favoured the latter.

I wouldn't be totally upset if the Grella I saw play last night missed the final squad of 23...very ordinary. Of course at Grella his best is a different matter.

Grella has a weak mentality and could damage our chances at the WC if he loses his cool and gets sent off. He should have been sent off against Brazil in 2006 after his belligerent tackle on Ronaldo. He is also a complete hypocrite. Following Rory Fallon's comments that he 'wouldn't be surprised if there were injuries in the game' Grella came out and said:
"I am disappointed. It's a man's game and it should be played in a man's way. But I would never wish it upon any of the New Zealand players to get injured. That would be something shocking. For him even to be thinking about things like that is very unprofessional. Maybe he is trying to ruffle the wrong feathers."
How can he make a statement like that and then launch into a dangerous and stupid tackle against an NZ player in a friendly match before a WC.
