As a father when I heard this news this morning it brought a tear to my eye. It still does. I hate hearing any bad news about kids. I will pray for the Jones family tonight and hope this little boy gets better very soon.

Poor Brad, and my heart goes out to the family. As a professional, I can attest that his kid has a good chance if it was picked up reasonably early. Acute paediatric leukaemia is actually one of the few good stories in cancer treatment - we've learned heaps about treating it, and those who recover usually have a long and prosperous life as adults. It is unrelated to the kind of leukaemia adults usually get. Fingers crossed for young Master Jones.

Having known brad personally back in the day and how good of a bloke he is, this is terrible news for him and his family. I know brads a fighter and if his son is anything like his dad, he'll have a good head start in getting through this.
I'll be happy for whatever choice he makes in regards to returning to the australian camp but one things for sure, the unity of the socceroos will do us and his family proud.

Ahh this is horrible. Feel for the lad and from Brad Jones. Horrible stuff, i remember when a girl up the road from me was diagnosed with leukemia, such a shock to everybody. Wish Brad and his son all the best, and hope he has a speedy recovery. Don't blame Brad for pulling out at all.
WOLLONGONG WOLVES FOR A-LEAGUE EXPANSION!

I wonder if 442 could organise something where the fans could send their best wishes to Brad Jones and his family? +1 +2

A sad reminder that it's only a game after all.
Hope he can recover, and best wishes to his family.

It's unbelievably sad. Things like that shouldn't happen to people, especially young kids. Awful.

Such awful news. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Brad, his family and of course his little son. It just isn't right that this should happen to one so young.

Puts things in perspective really.
Wish Brad's kid the best of luck for a full recovery - hopefully he'll be able to go watch his dad in Brazil in 2014.

Awful newws. All of Australia's thoughts and wishes go out to you Brad.
Now I understand Cahill's rocking baby goal celebration vs USA. Highlights the Aussie teams strength, their unity.

Poor guy. Cancer sucks, kids should have some sort of get out of cancer free card, its just not fair.
On a side note, bit of bad taste. Couldn't the cancer have waited till after the WC?

My daughter had cancer (she's now fine), and we met many children with leukemia while in hospital who, years later, are thriving. It's a setback that can be overcome, but it'll be a tough few months for Brad. All the best to him and his son.
