* Holman has the energy needed to get up and down the park to support Kennedy and cover for Kewell if he is exposed for fitness on the left. Would bring Bresc on for Holman in 2nd half and replace Kewell with Vidosic if he runs out of legs.

Garcia went off for Ruka (generally a straight swap). Jedinak effectively took over Grella's midfield work when Emo went off and I can't remember who Holminho came on for.....

All changes bar one were forced through the 'sending off' however

Holman came on for Grella at half time.

I agree with this line-up. And if Kewell isn't ready I'd play Holman, who looked good against Germany.

I like that answer, if as I assume you mean we weren't watching Australia, but some other light-beer impersonation of what Australian sports fans are used to. That is, we like having a go, trusting ourselves, playing in an attacking sense and letting some of our younger blokes have their head.

Aussies fight, what we saw was some bad version of a dutch man who has takenthe fight out of Australia with his tactics

Chipperfield, Moore and Grella looked awful against Germany. Carney adds much needed pace.

In 2006 we performed excellent because Hiddink put belief into the players and told them to attack. Verbeek tells them to defend which makes the players believe that they're not as good as their opponents. That's the major difference.

Is it realy? Both teams are generaly very defensive and it is a must win game for both teams. There is no way they would have prepared for australia to come out that attacking and presumably they would attack from the start which would leave there defence wide open. If we played a formation like that for the first 10 minutes I recon it would catch the opposition completely off guard. Think about where all the goals could come from Kenneedy (height), Ruka (speed), Kewell Emerton and Vidosic (on the wing, one on one, Crosses) And you also have Bresc and Chippers who are very capeable of scoring. I know we dont have any full on Strikers but how do you defend agsainst that variety in attack?

Anyway it doesn't matter because it would never happen. but you might be right he could play a four four two seeing as we NEED to play for the win.

kennedy's weakness is his ability to hold the ball with his back to goal and link with midfielders overlapping or turning to run at goal, Kewell on the other-hand could be the ball to feet front man (he doesnt have to stay on the left either) Balancing their attack up front would have Emerton coming infield more when the opportunity presents itself and allowing Wilkshire to overlap Emerton on the right side. Culina has been our best attacking player since the start of the campaign in Melbourne against New Zealand and has also been the most energetic, on current form he'd be my captain.

The defenders just have to defend better (haha) I don't know where to start there but i agree with what someone said earlier, throwing your arm in the air appealing for offside is NOT defending. Forget offside trap, press them higher up the pitch, and throw everything into it, defend like it is the world cup finals. oh hang on a minute....

If Bresciano is not fit, then I would move Kewell into AM and use Vidosic out wide. I think having Kennedy as central striker and a proven goal scorer as AM is the way to go. Gives options in the air and on the ground. The wide strikers need to do more than just cross for that to happen therefore I think Kewell and Emerton would be most capable of this. (where is Oar and McDonald when you need them eh?)
