Blatter, always full of excuses. Just admit it and say that FIFA is run by a pack of imbeciles with shit for brains. Cut your losses, learn from your mistakes and move on. Clearly something Blatter has never considered as he continues to make the same mistakes, time and time again.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Blatter Rejects World Cup Criticism?
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has defended the 2010 World Cup from criticism over empty seats and poor refereeing standards.

Have your say.

For once he's actually making sense. They sold majority of the tickets (or claimed to). You can't fault FIFA for locals etc not turning up.

They took the WC to South Africa in aim of developing the game and you can't fault that. It will be years before we can say with any certainty whether there was any merit to doing so.

The referees have been poor, but as he says - there isn't a lot you can do about that now, these are the best refs they apparenlt have and things will hopefully be better next time around.

Africa is overated

This has been the worst world cup in history, however still shits all over the Olympics and commonwealth games.

Blatter has lost the plot

A world cup in Africa will probably never happen again and lets pray that it never does!

I think the bigger letdown has been defensive teams revelling in the cooler conditions - thus lower scoring games, especially in the group stage - and the balloon they're calling a football.

I can't fauly FIFA for trying to take the WC to Africa, I don't think that was the problem. I think they weren't counting on the poor organization of the SA committee and the half-arsed approach of many of the locals.

I was always concerned about it being in Africa for any reasons.
I looked at going but decided against it for safety reasons.
Tickets for locals are dirt cheap and still they won't go - I think that they got the local allocation % wrong, but as always Blatter will deflect the blame elsewhere.
Why do we feel the need to have a new ball every world cup ?
That ball has been one reason why we've seen less goals and less attractive football - good move FIFA.
I just think that FIFA has misread or misunderstood the culture of the African continent - everyone hates the vuvuzela, but no-one seems to be able to come out and justify why they haven't been banned.
1 billion people will watch the final, I wonder how many of those TVs will be on mute ?

The ball isn't the reason for less attractive football. The cooler climate is the reason more teams are playing defensively because they can keep up that high tempo for longer than usual.
