With Reddy say its Castro. Do you agree and has he heard of Broich? If the poll stuffs up the others I mentioned were: Broich[br] Ninkovic[br] Adrian[br] Bobo[br] Carlos Hernandez[br] Archie Thompson[br] Besart Berisha[br] Diego Castro[br] Isais[br] Other (specify?)

For me broich. One of very few players who I genuinely loved going to watch. Ninkovic is phenomenal don’t get me wrong but Behich was on another level to everyone else. Made everyone around him look fantastic too

Broich was good but ruined his reputation by diving so much.
Archie is underrated, and i think we all forget how good carlos was, ninkovic is good but even better when mierzjevski was at Sydney.
Can't go past Castro though, he was brilliant when perth were shit, and just a good when his team is good.

Excluding short-term players like David Villa, to me Mooy in his last two A-League seasons was the most dominant.

Everybody has missed the point. In a Salary caped league, that has discounts for long term players then it has to be Leigh Broxham especially when you take into account how many positions and how many years he has played. After all playing football is about helping your team win trophies. It is not an individual sport. Castro is still on 0 and will never get past a few. Does anybody have more A league trophies than Brox? I think he has 8? Does anybody come close to that? Does anybody except Berisha even have half of that? Think about it - You know I am right.

Has to be Broich, he was such a joy to watch. I don't think Brisbane would have won the silverware they did without him. He also came across as a really nice guy off the field. From the current batch I would say Ninkovic and Castro can be devastating on their day.

No, only you Which bit of my logic is wrong? My lasting memory of Broich is somebody who dived to much and was shown up by a young guy called Nigro having his 1st start and is now barely an A league player. Castro is good but has yet to achieve anything and has left his run too late. Ninkovic. How many games did he recently go without scoring? Too many for an attacking player. Moments of greatness but he basically disappeared last year. I could go on. Football is a team sport were your success is measured in trophies, trophies and trophies. Any other assessment of greatness is pointless. Brox's value in a salary capped league over so many season in so many positions wins hands down. Keep in mind I am "Iknowbest" so my opinion is like fact. It out ranks everybody else combined.

Brooch was absolutely fantastic, theres no denying that. For me though as a biased victory fan, it's impossible for me to go past Hernandez, he's hugely underappreciated even by victory fans, his touch was absolutely magnificent, and his football IQ must have been huge. We were lucky he was as fat as he was, because if he was fit, he'd have been absolutely tearing it up in a top league, he was an absolute class of his own, and it's a shame more people don't appreciate that.

I have to agree with Keeper66. You would be the only person in Australia to think Brox is the best player ever to play in the A-League. BTW, last year, you were stating that Leroy George was the best player in the league.

BTW, last year, you were stating that Leroy George was the best player in the league. MV won the trophy. All this season MV chant - we are champions. Leroy was the most important player in getting that trophy. So yeap - Leroy (closely followed Adrian who was SFC best player and they won the second most important bit of silverware) was the best player last year. If Leroy or Adrian did this or even a bit less each year for as many seasons as Brox then they would be the greatest. They have not. Thanks for proving my point. NOTE - thread says "A leagues best" not the "best player to have ever played in the A league". That would be a different thread requiring a number of games to qualify. Honda or MD or ADP would win that one. When will people learn that I am always a few steps ahead of your weak counter attacks. Challenge me and you lose.

So to be the best player you seem to have to achieve something. Translation: your team needs to win the league.

The purpose of which is to win trophies. What is the alternative? You are judged by how much your are paid as per your contract? I do not think any of us would want that as the criteria for greatness. Again NOTE - thread says "A leagues best" not the "best player to have ever played in the A league"

Nikolai Topor-Stanley
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

A bit of merit in that. I would still go Brox (8) as NTS (2) resulted in less trophies. NTS does have an ACL trophy so I can see your point but not quite.

How can you claim people are missing the point when you didn't even start the thread? "Best" doesn't necessarily equate to "most succesful", although success does factor in. These sort of debates will always a level of subjectivity so don't be so condescending all the time.

Perhaps we need to put Kevin Muscat as "A leagues Best". He has 9 trophies.

These sort of debates will always a level of subjectivity so don't be so condescending all the time. Perhaps you need to make a new thread. Call it "The most naturally gifted" Put some criteria like minimum games. State that cost and success are not important. etc. If you make the criteria just right then Broich might come out on top. In competitive sport (that is when you keep the score) getting the trophy is the best. Football is a team sport. It is about winning trophies for your team. Brox is winning (or perhaps Muscat if you want to including coaching). I can be condescending because I am correct!

I think there's a case to be made that Brox is also the tallest player of all time.

They are people (sort of) after all. Will be interesting to see if Brox catches him in the next year or 2. So the poll should have been - vote for Muscat, Theo, Brox, anybody else close ? (All 3 where MV).

(you really do have to be careful with keepers - they play for so many seasons you forget how much impact they can have). Regardless would have all 3 above Broich. He was good but think everybody over rates him a bit too much. Players that look pretty get too much attention. Players that get the job done often get overlooked. It applies to all levels of the game.
