Have actually updated this extension a couple of times since I last posted in here. It's now up to version 0.4. Includes new muting functionality and a usability fix to the youtube player :) New Features: 1. You can now mute entire threads from the forum thread listing pages. They get moved to the bottom of the page that they appear on so you barely notice them. 2. Mute icons are now hidden by default but can be shown by click on the "Show mute buttons" links at the top and bottom of pages. 3. You can mute posts that quote a user that you have muted. 4. Ability to change the youtube player so that it uses the modern widescreen player. Includes a setting to change the size of the player in the post and the ability to fullscreen the video on the page. So this becomes 5. New slightly better looking options page to make all this functionality properly configurable. You can download the latest crx here or if you use the developer mode to install download the zip here

Thanks guys  I think it's helped but talking about that fact encourages them. I actually didn't have anything muted for a while but I think I'll have to again

Is it possible to mute PM's? I'm finding the private personal attacks that I'm getting from Joffa quite tiresome.

Yeah true.
Its good advice, it's just unfortunate that I have to get an email and a pop-up every time he wants to grace me with his personal prejudice.

You can turn the emails off at least at the bottom of this page http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/default.aspx?g=cp_editprofile

Yeah, I had a bit of a play, it's a shame that it can't filter to notify me when I get PM's from people I like talking to and ignore from those who shouldn't be harassing me because of personal politics.
But you do great work bruh

Can you set up the blocking of posts with quotes by these fuckwits? It'd be a good feature.

Forgot to mention how it works but instead of completely muting the post, it leaves the posters' details and hides the post behind a link you can click to read it...if you want to.

The post muting also extends to the signature so now I have to unblock scotty21's and TheSelectFew's posts.

I've released a new version of the extension that works with the new forum software. The only bit of existing functionality missing is the ability to mute quotes but with the collapsed threads it's probably not as big a deal. Will be difficult to implement as people can change their names now and there is no identifier in the posts... You'll also have to remove all your existing users and threads from your config and re-mute them as the ids have all changed. Apart from that it's all working. You can grab the release from here.

Haaaa. Excellent. I should go and make some novel length posts while others haven't had the opportunity to re-mute me

Small update to the extension (v 0.6). - The "Show/Hide Mute buttons" button is now next to the Post Reply button and styled the same as other buttons on the new site
- Personally not a huge fan of the circle avatars so you can turn that off in the extension. You can also make the avatars (the larger version in posts) whatever size you like.

any chance of getting it on the chrome approved list, so I don't have to reload it each morning ?

+xMore than a few of us have gotten sick and tired of the same multis and trolls derailing threads and utilising their "free speech". I generally enjoy this place so here is my gift to you... 442 Muter is a quick and dirty extension for Google Chrome that will remove threads and posts from users that you don't want to hear from. So this: becomes this: Ahh zen  As an added bonus it includes a usability fix to the youtube player so you get the proper widescreen player that can be made full screen without having to visit the youtube site. The project is open source and available on Github so if you're a coder and want to improve it, send me a pull request. There's heaps of things it could do to make it easier and nicer but I'm pretty busy and probably won't update it often myself if at all. Installation instructions 1. Download the extension crx from here2. Follow these instructions to add it to your browser How to configure the extension Muting a user or threadEasy! Simply: 1. Click on the show mute buttons link at the top and bottom of the page 2. Click the mute icon next to the user's name on a post or the thread name on the listing page Unmuting a user1. Open up the extension options page from the extensions tab 2. Click on the remove link next to the name you want to remove Feel free to post questions or feedback. Of course if I've muted you I probably won't respond  All previous releases available here Yes absolutely! Credit where credit is due. This is absolutely brilliant. It allows me to create a nice little safe space by excluding all those I disagree with. Pretty soon, since most people do disagree with me, my posts will be the only ones I will be able to read. At the very most there might be one or two others who might make the chop and this forum would be just a much nicer and pleasant place. Just one question, does it work with moderators too? Well done!
