Hi guys,

Basically I had a major injury last night to my knee and I won't be playing much, if any, football this season.

I really want to keep fit during the season so that next year I can play without any fitness troubles.

I'm not able to run for a few months so I'm basically looking at waist up.

If you have any tips on how to keep fit or strengthen my upper body during my injury, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends on the nature of your knee injury. I snapped my cruciate ligament and fractured my tibia in 2009 and ended up putting on 20kg in the interim period between the injury and being cleared to use an exercycle after the operation.

If you can, biking is great. Sit-ups are good too.

EDIT: Just remembered another thing. No matter what sort of injury you have, GET A CONCESSION PASS TO THE POOLS. Injuries respond far better to pool work given there is less weight and strain when underwater. Aqua-jogging can keep you fit if normal swimming is a no-go, and swimming without kicking is an excellent workout.
