Sydney Olympic can officially announce the signing of Takayuki Omi for the 1st Grade team for the 2011 Football NSW Premier League Season that commences this weekend with our first game against South Coast Wolves at Wollongong. Takayuki or Tak as friends call him was born in Shiga - Japan on the 6th of October 1982 his position is attacking midfielder and played in New Zealand last year with Auckland City FC where he also played in the OFC-Champions League and for Young Heart Manawatu the previous season in the ASB Premiership where he also scored 2 goals for his team. Tak was extremely happy to sign with Sydney Olympic and soon after signing his new contract he said the Sydney Olympic Media staff: “I am happy to be with Sydney Olympic, my friends told about the Club and I really wanted to play here. I will do my best for the Club and the coach that believed in me”. The Directors of the Club would like to wish Takayuki all the best in the 2011 season and we hope he meets the expectations of the coaching staff and the supporters of our historic Club. http://www.sydneyolympicfc.com/news/2011/03/22/takayuki-omi-signs-for-sydney-olympic/

Unspectacular yet solid signing. State League sides would be wise to have a look around the ASB Premiership, a few former HAL and NSL players doing the rounds.

I thought that SOFC stuff was meant to go into the thread started by Minimalistix?

If he does well, as Hirofumi Moriyasu did with APIA, then it could be a fast track into the HAL. As much as the SOFC fans would love to say otherwise, these moves are nearly always made to get noticed for bigger things. All the nice words in the world by a player about a club count for zero in the end.

Edited by heart_fan: 23/3/2011 03:28:51 PM Why would the guy want to play A-League when he plays for the biggest and best supported club in Oz now? Lol. Hiro was a star at APIA and the club was proud that he has achieved his goals. Actually they went as far as contacting FC before him even kicking a ball in game to alert about the guys talent.

Hehe.... Only the biggest and best supported in Oz? What about the World, or the universe while we are at it? I saw an interview about his time at APIA and the connections that the club opened up with SFC to give him the best chance of making the step up. I really admire that kind of commitment by a club for a player. Great work APIA!

He's a classy player but doesn't stick out that much in the national league (like Ivan Vicelich/Roy Krishna/Michael White/Martin Bullock/Aaron Clapham). Expect him to be solid, like all the other ASB Prem players in State League, but not HAL material unless something has changed drastically over a rather short period.

We'll see in the coming weeks how he goes. Could quite possibly be true. It would mean that the ASB Prem is of a higher standard than the NSWPL! :o

Agree - but I would put ACFC out in front, and possibly Waitakere too. City's new coaches have them playing a good brand, Roar-esque but with shit players. Example.

unless people have seen a significant amount of matches in both leagues, NO ONE is in a position to say which one is better or if they are in similar quality.

Great to see a club take that action. the NSWPL is very very competitive and the clubs do all the can to sign players and make them feel at home, downside is the clubs pay around 80k each per annum to FNSW and get nothing in return. Now why should i put everything in one thread it doesnt happen in other sections, equal rights you racist pigs

As you can tell, i don't like to get into political arguements, but I will tear u apart in any arguement relating to Greek-FYROM relations and politics, including political and cultural rights. Atleast Greeks are honest and openly say, we only recognise a Muslim minority and Greeks ;)

What the issue with that is, is the other minorities which Greece doesn't recognise and why it does not recognise them.
