I did the skills test
No real surprises, recommended the 6 highest players for rep trials 3 where selected 1 had to pull out through injury the 2 who scored the highest in the skills test did not make it through the selection.

One theory I have is that the kids who can do all the skills with a certain amount of (would you say agitated appearance) look like they are more committed than the players who can do the same things with a flowing non hurried calm demeanor.
IMO the later ones will maintain technique under pressure whilst the others may fail under pressure I will not know for a number of years.

Once again I say the selectors decide what the coaches will produce and whilst it is not an easy job it is the most important job in football.
I saw another selection where 2 kids who can not control the ball at all were selected over a good many better applicants.

Raw talent?

I've selected many kids like this over the years who (with hard work, dedication and good coaching) turned out to be considerably better youth prospects than the porky jugglers dressed in barca replicas.

Coaches of junior rep teams are not always looking for the finished product, krones.

As for the U10s who did not get selected and the ones who did.
Tonight I did a little test I explained a faint to the kids I then demonstrated it I then got them to do it one at a time and then asked them to practice it in pairs and alone.
The ones who got selected diligently practiced it the one who has superior skills bludged and acted non shallot about the whole exercise.
Hmm wonder if that is his problem.

Do these two kids lack athleticism by any chance?

No one in particular is – was super fast.
Once he was selected for another comp when he went into camp the coaches thought his selection was a practical joke.
