In preparation for Harry Potter 7.2, I've just started listening to the audio books, read by the delightful Stephen Fry, of 1-6. :D

I'm planning to head to Borders in the next couple of days to pick up some books on the cheap, considering that they are all closing down. Does anyone have any must reads that they can recommend?

I'm mainly interested in the crime thrillers, science fiction and adventure type of books. I know I will definitely buy "The Six Sacred Stones" by Matt Reilly though.

Awesome.
Don Winslow is an excellent author... 'Power of the Dog' or 'The Winter of Frankie Machine' are both quality.
Some other authors I'd recommend are Michael Crichton for science fictiony stuff, Clive Cussler for Adventure and Dean Koontz for generally awesome thrillers, page turners.

Maybe, I've never read the whole Bible though, only heard bits of it at church and those are usually the non-depressing bits. avy1990 wrote:Are those things called Psalms? It's not exactly an easy reading book, and of course it's pretty open to interpretation as nhub said. I guess unless you were religious or particularly interested in theology it's not the type of thing most people would read.

Its as awesome as the movie, but fleshes out more of the lesser characters (and has various subplots), mentions stuff that is used in Godfather II etc and makes certain parts of the movie make a bit more sense.
