It's a fantastic read and I like it more than the Movie, even though the movie did it great Justice. well worth reading.

Puzo has some other good ones too.

Just found out about a fictional book call American Gods. anyone read this, the concept intrigues me and since they're looking to turn it in to a TV series or Movie have been seriously looking at reading it first.
Personal reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Went Book shopping in Dymocks this afternoon. I haven't been in so long and I haven't anything new to read. Bought: - The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: I've heard so much about it, heard so many positive reviews about it, a lot of my friends, have read it, and recommended it. So I went into Dymocks and bought it. $25.00, I'll get around to reading it this weekend. I also picked up 2 books by Nelson Delmile: * The Lions Game * Up Country Both are crime thrillers and look quite interesting.

Finished 'Isle of Joy' by Don Winslow. Was good, not the best of his but still a very good read.
Started 'An Epic Swindle', the book by Brian Reade on the tenure of H&G at Liverpool. Great read, although some of the stuff is so horrible to read.

Finished reading My Sisters Keeper. Wow. It was so so moving for a book, I really regret seeing the movie of it first though.

Finished the Girl With the Dragon tattoo last week. Brilliant read, I recommend it if you haven't read it yet. It's not the easiest read, I'm currently reading it again for the second time, because I didn't quite understand it the first time, but it's brillant. Very "in your face" style book. Dunno about if you guys have read it, But I think Lisbeth Salander sounds kinda hot!

I have read "The Santarogan Barrier" and "The Heaven Makers" both by Frank Herbert. Interesting concepts in both books.
A while ago I read through 4 or 5 of the books in the Flinx series before I got bored of them.

Matthew Reily fans out there. We know the next book is going to be called The Army of Thieves, and is set in the Artic again. The release date has been confirmed as: October 12, 2011. 4 days after the kickoff of the A-League. :) :D And the plot has been released: At an abandoned Soviet base in the Arctic,a battle to save all life on Earth is about to begin... THE SECRET BASE It is a top-secret base known only as Dragon Island. A long-forgotten relic of the Cold War, it houses a weapon of terrible destructive force, a weapon that has just been re-activated... AN ARMY OF MURDERERS When Dragon Island is seized by a brutal terrorist force calling itself the Army of Thieves, the fate of the world suddenly hangs in the balance. But there are no crack units close enough to get to Dragon in time to stop the Army setting off the weapon. ONE SMALL TEAM Except, that is, for a small equipment-testing team up in the Arctic led by a Marine captain named Schofield, call-sign SCARECROW. It's not a strike team; just a handful of Marines and civilians. It's not equipped to attack a fortified island held by a small army. But it will go in anyway, because someone has to. THE ULTIMATE HERO IS BACK, FACING THE ULTIMATE ARMY OF VILLAINS. Should be fucking epic!

Since June I have started and finished a fair few Books.
I have started the Dark Tower Series and I am up to the Third Novel, Quite a good series so far and some of Kings best work in my opinion. I Finished the Football Factories which was excellent and nothing like the movie. I also have the Zombie Autopsies which has started well and I hope to get in to the Meat (pardon the pun) of it soon.
I also have started and stopped the Tru Blood series, not the best written books and reads a lot like a mills and boons of the undead. i'll stick to the tv Series I think.
Also a bunch of Graphic novels, err.........Comics. The walking Dead, Preacher and Fables all really good.

I've also just finished 2 books by Nelson Demile. The Lions Game - first book in a series of two. It's about a Libyan Terrorist who kills all people on a passenger jet, and slips into the United States. The FBI and CIA both think it's a random terrorist attack, however it's a cover ploy by the terrorist to slip into the United States to undertake his real mission - kill the pilots of the F-111 bombers who bombed Libya in the bombing of Libya in 1986 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_El_Dorado_CanyonThe book is written in the first person. All of Demile's books are written in the first person, which normally I can't stand. However, he's very sarcastic, dry and satirical which is my nature, so I actually really enjoyed it. It's got a smattering of romance in it, (more graphic sex, then romance, but meh) but it's a really good gripping read with a underlying sub plot too. I'm looking forward to reading the next book "By the Rivers of Babylon" The other book I've read by him is Up Country. Once again, written in the first person, the plot resolves around a U.S Army Criminal Investigation Division (kinda the US Army version of NCIS) who is sent back to Vietnam, in the 1990s to investigate a murder committed in the Vietnam War, a Captain in the Marines was accused of murding a Sergeant, and the case went cold, however a new lead has been picked up. There's 4 or 5 books in the 'Paul Brenner' series. I enjoyed Up Country, so the rest should be half decent!

I often recommend "American Tabloid" and "The Cold Six Thousand" by James Ellroy as awesome reads about American history through the 60s - the Mob, assassinations of the Kennedy's and King, Cuba, etc. I can't recommend them highly enough for plot, character, etc.
However, I've given up on the third part of the trilogy, "Blood's A Rover", not in the same class. A very poor way to wrap up the story. Apparently Ellroy, a deeply unhappy and paranoid man living in the shadow of his mother's murder for the last 50 years, fell in love and the new relationship 'changed' him. It certainly changed his bloody writing!

I've read a few Ellroy books. Very good.
I read John Dies at The End, the book Funky mentioned above and loved it.
Before that, read 'Sphere' by Michael Crichton. Also a fantastic book.
Now I'm reading a Dean Koontz book :D Followed by 'The Redbreast' by Jo Nesbo, and then 'Satori' by Don Winslow.
