Assume it is is true. What happens next?

Possibly why Fong and Pouree set up new Roar companies with themselves as directors back in September?
Big question is why? Something behind the scenes happen during COVID?

Sorry guys but I'm back . Have one more post , then I'm done for good. So pointless having a go at me for this. Friend tells me , if you enjoy discussing Robbie Fowlers  story recently , if what I hear is true , then next is even better. Someone in big trouble possibly. Could change start of season team. Pretty disgusting if what I'm told is true. If is true I hope you guys when know of this, put your foot down and don't tolerate this behaviour. Grubs like this don't belong in football. I'll leave it at that

Starting line up? assuming it’s 4-2-3-1:

                               Young
Brindell-South, Aldred, Gillesphey, Courtney-Perkins
                          Akbari, O’Shea
              Danzaki, Scotty, Champnese,
                                 DWH

Subs: Freck, Brown, Jingham, Hingert, new #9

Senior players in bold

Can't see O'Shea or Akbari as the first option no.8; I think Jesse Daley who is quicker. O'Shea could be a 6 although, Danny Kim would be first option there.
Guarenteed that Hingert and Brown will be first options, everyone knows that. Brown was a scoring threat.
Welcome 2 new no.9's Alex Parsons and Harry Sawyer - more than likely.

Nice to see Tony Grant is still reading the Roar thread here. Has gone to Twitter to clarify Waz's post re: legal outcomes.

Yes, very nice of him to take the time.

Not sure what he clarified looking at his post?

Robbie/Tony win the right to moneys outstanding ✔️ Robbie/Tony don’t win the right to other monies claimed ✔️

The point of the post was to clarify (what looks like) selective reporting NOT to take sides in a bitter divorce.

I thought Fowler/Grant did well for Roar and I stood up for them on these pages and elsewhere as people here will attest, now they’ve gone good luck to them. Personally I would have liked to see what they could do next season with this team but it wasn’t to be.

If they’ve got issues with people inside the club that’s between them, the fans though - as a collective - always outlast players, coaches and administrators and will be here long after today’s people move on.

But nice to know Tony Grant reads these pages - would have been interesting to see him comment on the debates over the past 12 months

Thanks Waz. Unbelievable how skewed the story was.
A thought: what if the PFA went to FIFA regarding players entitlement to full pay during lockdown? Does this ruling mean anyone involved in football in Australia is only subject to Australian law if it aligns with FIFA law?

DP believed they could win on appeal but the cost would be about the same as any savings.

Fowler/Grant appear to have got FIFA to force Roar to honour  their contracts despite COVID so yes, it appears to open up an interesting loophole the PFA could explore

Troisi was never leaving in the first place.

There was one SBS story where he was linked with a move away but it had zero substance whatsoever.

Just looking at all of the sides posted above, Did the Troisi deal fall through, or did everyone intentionally/unintentionally leave him out of all the starting lineups.

Reproducing this here from the RSF FB post:

The Fowler/Grant story that first appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald and then republished in the Courier Mail has got some traction.

The RSF contacted David Pourre for comment (who did return our call 😉) who expressed frustration that the media reporting on this topic was “biased, sensationalistic, and inaccurate”.

DP shared communication sent to the original journalist relating to the judgement, but not used in the article, with permission to share here:

* BRFC believe the judgement vindicates their decision to terminate their employment for refusing to return to manage the club post COVID as most of the claim was dismissed.

* Robbie Fowler was claiming $500,000 in damages. The Tribunal dismissed this.

* Tony Grant was claiming $200,000 in damages. The Tribunal dismissed this.

* The Tribunal rejected Fowler & Grants application for Legal costs.

* The Tribunal also rejected Fowler & Grants application for “reputational & other damages”

* Fowler was also claiming reimbursement for his $25,000 air fare costs (for return to the UK when COVID broke out). The Tribunal rejected this.

Therefore, the clubs opinion is that the vast majority of Fowler & Grants application was rejected by FIFA but that FIFA made it clear, contrary to employment law in Australia in the clubs’ opinion, that Grant & Fowler were entitled to full pay for the 3 months QLD/A-League was in lockdown.

The RSF are grateful for the openness shown yesterday but would urge the club to make a concise statement to fans and members formerly closing the topic.

On to season 2020/21 then .... which starts in 26 days folks 😁

The Courier Mail article reproduced here for completeness:

(link didn't copy)

It should also be noted that the one-sides story in the SMH which omitted  the fact Fowler/Grant lost 90% of their action also has Fowler’s legal council as a guest columnist. Coincidence??

Roar in me Blood - 30 Nov 2020 10:56 PM

Only Young and Hingert survived the clear out we had  to have, so it’s a great point - the lack of seniority in and of the club itself is really low.

It’s probably wishful thinking not to put Hingert and Brown in there, and to be fair both did very well last season and would actually make a an excellent back 5 for Roar if selected, it’s just my feeling is for this season to be a success we have to see some younger players starting and deservedly keeping their places.

If a new #9 is signed I can can see DWH playing on either side of that “midfield” 3. He doesn’t do well when he’s “out wide” but playing there is still pretty much central so would do well.

Looking at the squad of players moon has and (presumed) formation - there’s only one intent this year: attack.

i dont think defence is where you blood younger players and be successful as a team. saying that though hingert is 30 brindel south is 28 it is hardly bringing in younger players. both are in their prime. I havent seen much of brindle south so he could be great but i would have thought it is a no brainer between a 28 yearold NPL player and a 100+  game a-league player who has won 2 championships (saying that franjic was out of the npl but he was 22/23 at the time not 28).

although i really like JCP i think he will be a bit part player this season covering aldred, gillesphie and brown. brown is only 26 and should just be starting to come into his prime. i think we saw that last season where he looked a much improved player, and our team played much better when he came in.

i think moon might rotate JCP/brown hingert/south during the heavy periods because they will be asked to get up and down a lot seeing as we dont have any real width higher up but i think hingert and brown will be the prefferd option.

Waz - 30 Nov 2020 10:34 PM

It is funny that, while senior players, they just aren't Roar senior players. Only Young has played more than 1 season for the club out of that senior starting eleven. Once again as the season starts I am trying to find my Broich/CaptainMatty legendary rock and I just don't feel like I own any of them yet (Young aside of course - but it is not the same when your rock is your last line of defence).

I can't see the season starting without Brown and Hingert on the field. Much as we hope for positive change I would be surprised to see as many changes in the starting players to kick the season off as you hope. All depends on how the yougsters are combining in pre-season - which, as everyone agrees, is all up to Moon. If he starts those two over Brown and Hingert that will really tell us something about Moon's mindset.

A case can be made that we can be better than last season. We had a terrible start with an inability to score with Roy up front. With smac and champness we will be better. We have also addressed the lack of pace with champness, Daley and danzaki. the change in formation should also mean we are more attacking while not giving up much defensively.

While it's true we haven't replaced Aon he was pretty shit for us before his national team stint and didn't play after covid so we hardly had him last season and his fill ins did ok.

Agree.

If I see Brindell-South over Hingert and Courtney-Perkins over Brown then I think k we’re heading in the right direction toon.

The “over reacting” comment wasn’t aimed at you personally, of your post. More the general naysayers who are forgetting the bulk of a very good team remains intact.

There’s a lack of depth in there I agree, and there’s holes in the squad (#6 and #9) I also agree. Whether it’s the worst squad since Noah was a boy is a matter of opinion .... most of this squad finished 4th recently and there’s no reason why they don’t repeat that .... my problem is there is no reason why it would be much better than that unless they at least sign a recognised #9

I think you are one hole short. Above, you’ve stated that O’Shea replaces Inman but not identified who replaces O’Shea.
So we are short a #9, an AON replacement and an O’Shea replacement (because he’s replacing Inman)?

I wasn’t an AON fan, thought he was pretty average all season but yes, there’s two holes in the squad - 9 and 6.

O’Shea at AM is a great move imo but sadly without a DM most options suggest pushing him back.

#9 is Scotty and DWH at the moment, but the rumour is they’re chasing a new #9 which makes sense.

#6 is harder to backfill. But there are options:

* If they sign a #9, Scotty drops to AM and O’Shea goes back to 6.

* I can’t see Akbari playing AM but maybe he could, again freeing O’Shea up.

I haven’t seen them play this year due to other football commitments but they are banging in goals BUT conceding them as well, albeit at a lower rate.

I wouldn’t be panicking yet, there’s plenty to like in this squad but it all comes down to Moon.

Waz. I don’t think I’m overreacting - just asking the question? If you think we’ve had a weaker squad since 05/06 I am happy to have a legitimate debate.
The problem with this years squad as you yourself highlight, we don’t even have any ‘journeymen’ of the Pepper or Bowles ilk - who can do a job when you’ve got a few injuries.
So far we’ve transferred out about 500 senior games (A-league level or above) worth of experience and transferred in fewer than 40!
I reckon we are in a bit of trouble if O’Shea picks up an injury.
