In any event a point away from home to league leaders and last seasons grand finalists is acceptable.

Can't believe Petratos started ahead of Lustica like last week again. WTF Iohnny. We looked a bit better again when Lustica came on for 20 odd minutes. Would have thought with Mackay away next week Lustica would have been given most of a game for fitness sake to ensure he is better prepared for next week. Not withstanding he is more effective and provides better team cohesion than Petratos. That in itself should have been enough.

What's going on with Broich this season? Piss poor.

Hervas has been declared match fit and available for selection this weekend according to Aloisi this morning.

Broich is being asked to play a different game this year, he's made 16 tackles (4th best in the comp) which is probably as many as he made last season - not sure he and Maclaren have found a sync yet, but I'm sure they will.

Thomas Broich says Brisbane Roar's current A-League squad is the best they've ever had in his time at the club.

The Roar's depth will be tested on Sunday when they face Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium without skipper Matt McKay, striker Jamie Maclaren, defender Corey Brown (all international duty) and the injured Jean Carlos Solorzano.

But marquee man Broich expects them to pass that test with flying colours.

He needs a break from injury, he started preseason injured, came back and got injured against Mariners preseason but got injured, came back against SFC and got injured. He was plagued by injury last year.

Depth probably. Not best squad.

As good as Jamie and Borello are, they lack the experience to play good football like the Roacelona days. And as well as Hingert and old man Stef or Brown tries, we still are relatively weak at full back.

I wouldn't disagree with the statement, the title of "best" is normally assigned after some level of achievement right? The current squad though are at least comparable to previous squads before they won anything, the top 7 or so players (Broich, McKay, Henrique, DeVere, North, Theo, Corona) are complemented by a great next layer in Maclaren, Borrello, Hervas (at face value), Young, Hingert, Donachie, Lustica, Clut, Solorzano, Steff, Bowles giving 18 to chose a starting XI from then add in D'Aggers on the youth side, the potential of Perratos, Brown and Polenz and the top 22 form a very handy squad.

From Fridays training i would say Dagostino is definitely starting unless Aloisi loses his nerve before Sunday.

Really looking forward to the game now, hope he shines.

I'd agree with that.

I've seen him play several times and he's good, got decent pace and is a really good finisher. At 17 he's nowhere near the finished article do it's interesting to see him mentioned as a possible replacement for Maclaren against Perth. Personally even against a disrupted Oerth defence I think it would be too much of a risk to start him but as Ricky is supposedly on the bench were short on options with solo injured again.

I'm wondering if we don't change formation today and move from 4-3-3 to either 4-4-2 or a full blown 4-2-3-1 along these lines:

Young
Hingert, North, Bowles, Steff
Corona, Lustica
Petratos, Clut, Broich
Borrello

I think it will more be petratos for mclaren, with clut and lustica in the midfield. Maybe new spanish guy to start or come on at the 60th.

D'Agostino played well and so solid for a 17 year old. Solo's spot as back up could be in jeopardy.

Hervas looked the goods. Still early but fitted in well and a warm welcome to a good attacking midfielder. Petratos looks like will be benched although there seems to be a love for him which I don't understand. Did alright yesterday but still too lazy for me. He'll now go 6 rounds playing shit again.

Petrat is an enigma.Someone must of put a rocket up him,because i have been shocked to see him actually run hard on more than one occassion.He has talent ,but I agree he is lazy.Too often he thinks all he has to do is hold the ball ,run inside and pass it backwards.
With serious competition in midfield,I wouldn't be surprised if the other Aloisi has got stuck into him about getting serious about defence.
Hopefully Clut gets the message also.
D'Agostino chased hard,but was out muscled by the defence ,as you would expect and the front third third looked disjointed because he wasn't in sync with Broich or Borrello.
Clut doesn't have the luxury of being an unknown anymore and opponents are really closing him down quickly.So he will have to learn to adapt.
With the strength in midfield now,hopefully there will be serious competition amongst the players.We now have six quality midfielders and arguably five of those would be regular starters in any other team.
Corona,McKay,Hervas,Lustica,Petrat,Clut.No wonder Lambda was released.
You could also add in Broich as he gets slower.Because Ricky,McClaren and Borello could easily be the front three.With Solorzano,Brady and D'Agostino back up.
CB's will also be fighting for spots,with DeVere,Bowles,Donachie,North,Steff all capable.
If we don't suffer any major injuries ,it's going to be tough for anyone to beat us.

Lamba gone? What a shame. Anyway agree about our midfield. More looking forward to Hervas strut his stuff because I take it he is an attacking midfielder and we need consistently more scoring options than just Jamie and Borello.

I'm not comfortable with the full backs as much as Aloisi seems to praise the back line. Too often still indecisiveness between Hingert and Bowles and again I'll sound like a broken record but Steff just hasn't got the legs any more and his passing is constantly going astray. They're all do ok but we need this area to improve to match the rest of the structure.

We won't become champions until this is fixed.

It looks like He is a central midfielder first,who can play as an attacker or defender.According to stats ,his agility and passing is his strength.(Which we saw yesterday)
If you look at fifa15 stats,he apparently has two skill moves?
With our midfielders its amazing how they are all short and relativley slightly built.
