..,. someone’s really upset. The government spends hundreds of millions on:

- subsidising private schools for the rich to send their kids too.

- playground equipment in parks up and down the State

- millions on arts, museums, music festivals,

- fireworks for the masses twice a year.

The list is endless. Roar just got a little bit of it.

Will it keep the Bakries here longer? Who knows but it’s unfair to press pause on Brisbane Roar FC until they do go.

Logan mayor Luke Smith joked the club should be renamed 'Logan Roar' as gratitude for the arrangement.

Might be another name change for the Logan Lions once Bris City/Bris Strikers come in...  :)

Seriously though it's good news.

Meh.

Would rather Logan look after its own city and not Brisbane.

Logan should start pumping money toward Rovers and the iminent 2nd division.

Good to see some progression in the facilities and the academy.

Awwww .... someone’s upset. $30m In to netball$200m into an NRL Stadium $millions in to Broncos training ground$50m promised to the Reds$millions for Dolphins RL to build a stadium $millions invested on the Gold Coast in to various sports. Yeah, I think the world will keep turning because Brisbane Roar just got their first government assistance in 13 years 😀

The club has $40 million in funding already confirmed by Ipswich City Council, Springfield Land Corporation and the AFL for the project but are seeking $15 million from the state government towards the $70 million project with the federal government's commitment contingent on the state's decision.

@ Pain in the Ange

Lions are still going are they lol; they are seeking a massive amount of money but have been backflipping on location for years. Springfield was too far now it seems irs back on.

What I don’t get is why two codes can’t share - government money could be better used surely if two codes shared facilities while still having their unique turf in there.

It is a state election though and this is the time to get your money - Broncos have been masters of it, netball benefited from it, Townsville got a new stadium. Roar (bring a basket case) don’t get considered and to be fair, only got Logan because League turned it down.

If AFLX is as popular in QLD as AFL is then you will see lots of AFLX pitches but no one actually using them.

Yeah, read those comments.

Nothing about the coach needing to pick players who aren’t injured, play them in their proper positions, and stop fucking around with three at the back etc .. it’s all the “players fault” for not being calm lol 😆

An angry Albanian is back and we dont have a recognised LB playing away in Melbourne.
We are 7-2 for a win.
Victory finished strongly last game with ten men.
I can't see how we can win this one, without a major form reversal.Which just doesnt happen these days.

It beggars belief that Theo is now out for 3 or 4 weeks with an injury he's been carrying since the start of the season and had minimal saves in that time. Yet Young produced in one game more saves than Theo in 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!          ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any formation can be made to work right. I’d like us in a 3421 set up but what wasn’t worked was a 3+1 thingy. That said, put Young in goal and we might have done better:

Theo, 4 games, 12 shots on goal, 3 saves, 9 conceded .

Young, 1 game, 4 shots on goal, 4 saves

It's mindless to go three at the back if the players you have can't play it well.Roar don't have the players to play it well. All of preseason and five HAL games says so.

But he’s been playing 3+1 which is an odd set up even on paper. And then it’s been 3+1, 2, 3, 1 or with Brown pushing up its kinda 3331 or 3241 ... that last formation is what’s getting Ange in trouble.

For Brisbane it means Brown has to read the game extremely well. Which he can’t do.

But he could play:

Young
Bowles, DeVere, Avraam;
Franjic, Kristensen, Holman, Hingert;
Skapetis, Bautheac;
Maccarone

The backs mans sense there surely? Hingert is a good LB but could be swapped out for Brown.

During the City WSW game yesterday the commentators said Janjetovic had made 22 saves for the season. Up until round 4 our opposition had 12 shots on target, and 9 for the last 2 games. So, we have had fewer shots on target against us than WSW, yet we are languishing in last place.

The players seem more confident in the last couple of games. Lets hope that the front third can get its act together and score consistently from here on.

Franjic to be rested on Friday:

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/football/brisbane-roar-wont-rush-new-signing-ivan-franjic-despite-aleague-win-drought-extending-into-sixth-game/news-story/057ee1b98185201a8ecded48cbd39b59

Not really a surprise with JA to be honest.

Thought we looked good on Saturday. “Good” as in better and more composed with several players having good games. They need to figure out how to use Maccarone though - there’s too many balls over the top bring played. He is not friggin Maclaren but put him in or close to the penalty area and he’ll create a chance.

We looked better ,because we had more energy and hence competed more in one on ones.Hence the over zealous tackles and yellow cards.
We still glaringly miss a ballplayer who can make the passes forward and link play. Not surprisingly there are a few teams in the same boat.Victory one of them ,without Troisi, who is hardly a great playmaker.
McKay is still surprisingly poor with his passing.I am thinking this is age related and like Broich last year,it wasnt until the second half of the competition he improved and looked like himself(a slower version).
What a difference a player like Corona could make to this team.

Bowles is on the verge of a return and has been training strongly for a month, TK is always “next week” but is looking close, so with these two plus Franjic, Brown and North set to return this month defensively stocks are looking good.

As you say crimson, the lack of a ball player in midfield is an issue but at least with Caletti further forward he had space and time for forward passes - I just hope JA sticks with a settled side for a while, the players will benefit from some familiarity for a change.

I’d stick with the same team v City on Friday.

Hope he will stick to same team , at least get some combinations working which you can only get by playing games
Liked the way Eric looked out for the youngster O’Toole , gave him plenty of defensive support , Victory were interchanging Ingam and Leroy all game to unsettle him.
Jack also picked himself up after been skinned by the young Melbourne kid , burst into box to set up Holman .
A decent result away in Melbourne , a win on Friday would be huge .

Former Socceroos attacker Brett Holman believes Brisbane Roar can still make something of their A-League season despite a six-match winless run.
Source:
AAP
14 NOV 2017 - 10:12 PM  UPDATED YESTERDAY 10:12 PM

It was their third draw in a row and their sixth match on the bounce without a victory -- enough to convince some observers that Brisbane's season is already shot.

But Holman is confident things will turn around soon and believes a win on Friday night against Melbourne City can spark a change in fortunes for the bottom-placed side.

Asked if it was time to reassess the team's goals this season, Holman said: "Not at the moment, just because we believe in what the coaches are doing."

Merrick talks down Jets' Sydney showdown
Ernie Merrick is refusing to treat Saturday night's blockbuster A-League clash with Sydney FC as a measure of Newcastle's title credentials.

"If you see what we're doing at training... it works. It's just obviously putting that out there on the weekend.

"We've had a slow start, results haven't been like we would like them to have been.

"(But) I think you can see that, especially after going goals down in the last couple of games, that we're still fighting."

Holman said their clash against City at Suncorp Stadium was a good opportunity to chip away at the 10-point gap that has opened up between themselves and the competition's top three sides.

The Roar should regain Jade North (virus) and Fahid Ben Khalfallah (groin) after the pair were late withdrawals from the game against Victory.

However, influential Danish midfielder Thomas Kristensen (hamstring) is at least another week away while new signing Ivan Franjic won't be risked.

City beat Brisbane 2-0 at AAMI Park in the opening round of the season.

Holman, who is yet to reach peak fitness after suffering a pre-season calf injury, hinted that he could remain on the bench for another week.

"You have to be super fit to be in this league and if you're not, you're always going to be second-best," he said.

"I'm feeling good, with some of the injuries we have had it's being a lot more precautious now and not just worrying about the next game, but the next five games."

@ Therapy Scott

What goes on in training is really important all the same. It’s rare a team plays well on match day but trains poorly; a striker struggling for match day goals is normally struggling on the training training field.

The rumours surrounding Roars preseason training are that while Adelaide were doing 3 training sessions daily and the rest two, Roar were only doing one session.

If that’s true, and Roar do look underdone and unfit, then the training preparation by the coaching team has fallen way short.

An easy fix for the season is to win the next three games but home to City and away to the two Sydney sides makes that a tough ask - if they can pick up 6 or 7 points in those three games they then have three home games against eminently beatable sides.

But while they suddenly look hard to beat lately we rarely look good enough to win games and I think we’ll finish this season with more draws than wins but more wins than defeats.
