Dave Pourre confirmed this morning that players will start training at Logan next week (20th) and Roar will be out of Ballymore entirely this Friday.

RSF and Den have also been invited to a meeting this week to review membership pricing and packages for next season, meeting will take place at the Logan Training Center

Hey Waz. I’d love to ask them why they can’t sell non-public transport Memberships. Not hard with modern technology to have separate passes that don’t swipe on public transport. Really sh1tz me that it costs an extra $40 or so for a membership because I have to pay $3 bucks a game for a service I never use.

It doesn't matter if you use it or not mate. The club pays the government based on the crowd regardless if 10% or 90% of the crowd use public transport.

@ clockwork

The RSF along with the Den met David Pourre last night to review their plans for membership next year. We’re kinda sworn to secrecy over detail but prices are coming way down from this season plus there’s specific options for families which look pretty neat.

We asked about the travel levy or “sporting tax” as the club now dub it. It’s a condition of entry that around $3.75 per ticket is applied to everyone that passes through the gate on game day. This is to cover the transport costs, then there’s another$1.75 to cover traffic management, again applied to everyone that walks through the door. This is covered in the stadium deal, there’s no exceptions apparently - you want Suncorp then that’s the deal.

Roar are trying to get support from other codes to reduce or eliminate this entirely. Historically no one was interested but now Reds and Lions are drawing 11k crowds regularly they’re apparently more interested.

The meeting took place at Logan which I have to say was quite impressive. A lot larger than I anticipated with three excellent buildings fir the club to use.

Ask Pourre if you could just open 1 stand and not have to pay anything ?

I've heard other Stadiums Qld facilities have that option.

@ Burgs.

They’ve done that for ACL games with limited success.

The long side opposite the camera has to be open because that’s the stadium members area, the entire second tier plus the 4 central blocks are all stadium members.

The long side where the cameras are has corporate boxes in it so that side opens as well plus it’s the only stand where you can put platinum members (the other side is stadium members)

That just leaves the two ends as all the other upper tiers are closed.

Suncorps problem is that lower bowl seats 27,000 people, it’s friggin huge. It lol oks dmpty with 20k in it sadly.

“So what do people think. If Roar lose to SFC this weekend is it season over? There is still a mathematical possibility of making the six,but in reality are Perth,WSW and AU going to lose two more games than us after the weekend?”

No, I recon if he wins 4 out of the last 5 for 37 points he’ll make finals.

Brisbane have one more home game against CCM .But an away game against WP, so two wins.31 points.Win three and its 34.
AU have three home games in a row, including against WP.Just one win and they get 32 points. Two wins and its 36.
WSW play their last two games at home against us and AU.If they win one they get 33.If they win both they get 36 points,
Both WSW and AU could win another game and its game over.
We might grab a point in one of the other away games. But we need to beat SFC to have any chance.Otherwise we need WSW and AU to lose three games.
Perth play SFC,MV and us at home and NJ 's away.If they win two ,they get 32 points.
WSW and AU should be 5 and 6.

@ crimsoncrusoe

If we win all the games we’d end up on 40 points, that’ll be good enough for 4th place possibly 3rd the way City are going.

All the games are key, but away to WSW will be the big one. By the time we play Glory they’ll be out of it anyway so less of a dog fight there.

The way I’m looking at this is simply Roar not making finals then Aloisi has to go. Roar making finals would mean Aloisi would have won something like 8 or 9 out of 11 games - he can then argue his squad selection was right and he deserves to stay on.

Its an interesting end to the season

How I think we’ll travel:

SFC (A) draw
Nix (A) win
CCM (H) draw
WSW (A) loss
Glory (A) win

So 33 points and 7th place.

Would be more inclined to go with something like:

NIX - DRAW
CCM - WIN
WSW - LOSS
GLORY - DRAW

Unfortunately I'm not confident.

We need to beat SFC or the pressure will be too great to make up two wins on WSW and AU.Plus the last few years have shown that at the business end under JA,we do struggle to get the results we need.
Unfortunately I really think AU and WSW can get two more wins each.So we need four wins.
If AU beat City then they are virtually safe.

Yeah, can’t argue. Away form though is decent so there’s hope.

big question is what’s the minimum JA needs to survive be? Worst ever is 30 points so ....?

Thing is if he got 30 points and we had developed a good foundation for next season it'd be ok. But he bet the house on this season, and now we are pretty much starting from scratch for next year.  The only decent things we learned about young(ish) players this season are:
- Pepper is a better CB than DM
- O'Tool could be good (ironically replacing the only young player in our first team)
- Calletti can't be on the park with McKay
- Gamerio, D'Agostino and Brady never score

Can add to that in terms of squad issues:

- need a more capable backup to TK than Oxborrow. Sorry, doesn't cut the mustard
- having the oldest team playing every second week on the biggest pitch in the competition is not a good idea
- have more players other than our ST who are capable of scoring at least 5-10 goals a season

Question is, who would we replace JA with? Who are some realistic candidates? I actually think Ross is a bigger problem than JA. Our culture has declined somewhat and I put this down to his influence.

I agree on the Ross problem. I feel the culture problem is his problem. You shouldn't be calming down your assistant every game. John needs some different ideas and a better defensive coach than Ross.

is all the Ross hate based on any facts or is it just speculation ? Yes he has shown a temper during games but that doesn't mean he necessarily is a bad influence within the club....maybe he is a gentleman away from the sideline ? ...does anyone actually know him ?

I wonder if its possible to get players like Yeboah and Smith over here on loan to reignite their careers.Smith could play as a left midfielder rather than a left back. But I do believe if he had a full season he would be a good player.
Regardless the squad needs a good shake up.

O’Toole is a left back? Surely if JA were stuck for a CB he would play Franjic there , more experience ?
Also Brown back from injury would be more suited .
Apart from this game tbh our season has been crueled by injuries , must be the ground at ballymore , bring on Logan !

Bowles has been declared fit so the CBS will be Bowles/Pepper which I’m not too worried by. SFC are more than good enough to expose our best defence so it don’t really matter, if we get some luck we have a chance but man, Aloisi is unlucky ...

I think it is a major worry against Sydney.  Pepper gets caught out of position too often and Sydney will almost certainly take advantage of this.  No Jade North for this game is a major loss. Pepper and Bowles both need an organiser to play next to.  Hopefully Bowles will take this role, but i think it is a major worry.

This is a crunch game.  A win here has the potential to put a completely diffefrent complexion on the whole season.  With a win over Sydney, Roar will have actually had a very impressive points run from their last 6 or 7 games, and will mean that they have pretty much shown they can beat all of the top teams (well not really newcastle, but they are likely to drop form without Nabout) in these games.  Not a bad effort when you consider just how bad they have actually played. Imagine if they actually started hitting great form and passing to feet without making simple errors! Points wise, it puts Roar right in the box seat to make the 6 especially with an easier run in.

The flip side to this is that a loss means realistically they are no chance of turning their form into a title winning run and they will be likely struggling to beat the wooden spoon, as their form this season probably deserves.

A draw would be interesting one, and imo, probably the most likely.  It would show they are good enough  to compete witht the top teams, but it would still take a massive form reversal to get the points needed to even make the 6.

@ Bender Parma

I think the organising tonight will have to come from Franjic and Hingert who presumably will occupy the wing back roles. It’s a big night for Bowles, this is his time to prove he can be first pick CB.

Pepper is what many fringe players are in the HAL, just lacks game time. Better positioning comes through playing and until we get a reserve league we’ll always have rusty reserve players. But again, similar to Bowles, this is the night to show he’s worthy of a new contract.

Everything bar possible travel fatigue favours SFC so a Roar win would be a shock result. As Roar showed against Jets recently - they can match it with the best but they can’t put good teams away. Tonight will need to be their best performance of the season, win or draw and I recon they’ll bounce in to their new training home on Tuesday 😀

Is it just me or Brisbane playing some real nice football lately? The passing for one has been some best I have seen in a long time, almost like the old days. But in saying that they still do the odd stupid pass or two but I guess that will always happen.

Matty’s best game of the season. Actually had some zip tonight.
Hingert is a bit of a liability at the moment but I think Franjic at LB is a better option than Brown or O’Toole.
Funny thing is that Pepper and Bowles (our 4th and 5th CBs) have been as good as any pairing this season.
One game doesn’t make a season (and we actually only created one chance from open play) but it’s a start ...

Have to admit Mckay had a great game, if he could play like that every game I would be happy for him to play for another season.

Yea, not sure what is up with Hingert, he has always been reasonably solid but is making way to many silly mistakes.

I think it has been mentioned a few times in the past about how well Pepper is at CB compered to midfield, great player to have for that alone if someone gets injured. Bowles also very good in his own right as well.

Still plenty of things wrong for sure no doubt, slow in transition, slow moment and passing at times, that final pass or shot still lacking etc

Aloisi has a great opportunity in the off season with so many players coming off contract, just hope he makes the right choices.
