European transfer window closes tomorrow and you can see the effects with both Melbourne sides closing deals. Let’s hope Flamini or one of the two Dutch guys follows tomorrow (personally I don’t mind “underwhelming” as long as it’s not that Willo Flood bloke lol)

Flamini is a free agent so we can sign him outside the window.but agreed, something needs to happen soon! Not sure they'll announce much on Bolt Day tomorrow but.

It is frustrating but we have to remember this is signing 23 out of 23 so they’ve done a good job having the squad in place this year. To that they’ve added a new physio, new fitness coach and new assistant coach - JA has nowhere to hide especially as they’re in those excellent Logan facilities.
I just want this last signing nailed - especially as tomorrow “the season starts next month” - so we can get on with things. It’s going to be a tough competition this year - SFC, Glory, City, Victory and Roar have all signed well (I’d like to bet that’s the top 5)

Jerks will be good again playing around Dimi. I would be more sure of a top 6 finish if we had our marquee midfielder next to TK and Mauk tbh. Otherwise I think top 6 is still being optimistic with McKay dragging us down in the middle of the pitch.

Has been the best off season for us in recent memory. They're no doubt being extremely picky/careful with this last signing, which is fine. There's still 7 weeks until the season. But you'd think they'd want the deal done fairly soon. Seems like it'll be very tight this season.

Lets hope they mostly turn out to be good players who add some zip to our game .It will still all come down to how they are utilized.... ie coached....I am still waiting to see if JA can coach at the Roar . I have my doubts but am hoping he is growing and learning and comes good this year .

The difficulty with this scenario is that if we persist in chasing him, we then move out of the window and lose the potential to go after others that are currently in the mix. If the deal is not a goer today, I believe there are other fish worth taking.

Jets will struggle this season. Merrick can do that to even the best teams, they’ll miss O’Donnovon for the first third of the season and haven’t really signed anyone of note. They’ll struggle for top 4 after choking badly in the final.
WSW and Adelaide are the great unknowns but FFA Cup form doesn’t really suggest much does it.
And yeah, would agree with our biggest weakness being JA - can he coach a winning team?

Vucks brought in a super tough tackling (if not also injury prone) Spanish DM. We really need this piece to pull our squad together. C'mon Pedj! Make something happen!

Slightly worrying that the European transfer window has closed and we didn’t sign anyone.
The only players we can sign now are “free agents” who come with the John Aloisi health warning of “he didn’t have a proper pre-season so we won’t see the best of him until next season” which is no good for the season starting next month.
The other option of course is they make a signing in the January window.

Big test today to see where we are at , after 3 months of preseason under our belt and most if not all players fit it will be interesting , hopefully there will be regular updates and not just the usual 1/2 time full time scores.

Huge test. Victory will be motivated after the cup exit and boosted by recent signings everyone will know there’s competition for places.
Roar meanwhile have been in training for weeks, had three decent hit outs and all bar Avraam, and any nighters thaf came up in the week, should be available.
@bnetoarfans have a supporter in the crowd this arvo so check that out for regular updates.

Yes it is. There’s a coach load of Roar fans going (down?) for the game this arvo so we should get a few perspectives - one of them drives that twitter feed.

Still seven weeks until the season start. That's a long time to practice after the time that has already passed.Seriously that must be menatally challenging for the players.

If that’s a weak victory side then write them off for the title, the bulk of their starting XI is there. Both sides would probably only have 2-3 changes come R1

As I said, the bulk of the Victory side is starting XI .... for Roar add in Avraam, DeVere and a new visa DM. Three changes for Roar, 4 for Victory.
