As annoying I find him petrat really helped in midfield. When you consider kristensen is the only New player that started in that game. I think players like Holman needs to work harder to be in our system.

I think kristensen has been a far better player than corona. He may not have that killer pass, but he has fixed up the midfield defence and his runs from deep to attack the goal are far more effective for goal scoring.

Agrre with you there. Petrat found acres of space and actually used it to good effect on Sunday, which was a plus.

And when we pick a player as a DM, it helps that he does defend. I was overseas last year but it seems that Kristensen is a straight swap for Corona, and the latter's defensive skills seemed (from what I saw/heard on the internet) to be lacking, so definitely agree there.

To me, Oar is a new player though on the books last year. It seems that JA finally has him playing effectively.

Must say, I'm very pleased with the re-signing of Mat McKay. Whilst Kristensen was deservedly MOTM on Sunday, it was encouraging to see Mat in the 90th plus minute haring across the ground chasing the ball to snuff out a potential Adelaide attack.

With our shortcomings in the middle against Thailand, I cannot understand why he is not still in the Australian set up, especially when Jedineck is continually picked.

Because McKay never played for victory.

Cobb had been mouthing off for a long time.Technically it wasn't the responsibility of FFA to check him out.But I still think it stinks that when FFA control only ten clubs, there is no mechanism in place to do back ground checks or force/advise clubs to do background checks. When you think Poppa gets a fine for criticizing referees, how does the damage to the game compare to a crook like Cobb dragging Roar through the mud for three months? Some basic metrics for club CEO's would help, when foreign owners maybe are a bit naive or unfamiliar with Aussie crooks. Then was his iprevious failure with Adelaide United and sponsorship.

Why do guys think the FFA wasn't the one that warned off the Bakries?  All the evidence was that they did just that.  Until some application was in their hands for a a change of ownership or control there's not a lot else they could do really.  Bakries turned real cold after FFA made some sort of a negative statement early in the year as I recall.  Either way, he's gone and I just hope he's the last of that kind that will be seen around the game.  History overseas, Rangers, Leeds etc.. doesn't fill me with optimism though.

@ crimsoncrusoe

I asked the same question and got this answer -

in terms of who a club appoints as CEO/MD that's purely a matter for the clubs so Cobb as MD is the bakries concern not the ffas.

Cobb as an owner is a different matter and he must satisfy the ffas criteria (whatever they are) which apparently he hasn't started down that process so was never close to owning it.

It seemed to me the FFA got tired of the bakries in the winter and I wonder whether they would have fast tracked Cobb to expedite the exit of the bakries in which case we would have been out of the frying pan and into the fire

My question to FFA is what metrics do they have when this guy can even get a sniff of owning an A-League club?

This guy always was a crook.A google search would have brought up his crooked activity with his brother .How the Bakries and FFA got sucked into the bs of this guy is amazing.
Here is just one extract from a forum.

Around 18 months ago while Daniel Cobb was still an un-discharged bankrupt (for the second time) and parading around (illegally) telling people he was the founder and principal director of the Premier Solar group, yet every promise we knew he had made had proven false, I recommended that he either had to change his ways or he would lose everything and take his brother Martin down with him. I warned Martin of the same. Because of their arrogance and myopic solipsism, they have now taken others down with them, owing bucket loads of money to decent people who didn't need to have been deceived.

It will be interesting to see whether Karma takes things further for them.

Agreed. Can't understand why he fought to name Brisbane Roar in court? It's not as if we're a beacon of good corporate governance is it lol.

No matter what, I think that's the end of his chances at Roar - the fans wont accept him now. And the bakries with kingsman under them seem to be doing okay.

LOL, always said this guy was a crook. He destroys buisness for his own gain.

They always come off really well early on, hence the bakeries interest. But soon you realise they are hot air.

We definetly dudge a bullet. Bakeries are annoying but at least they eventually fork out a couple a million each season. This guy will be worse than clive

Devere has been in good form. No way Bowles gets in ahead of him.

devere was one of the best ball playing cb. I really don't know what happened. I think quite a few players in the roar are down on form. But his passing and ball handeling is normally a lot better than what we seen in the past few games.

North was making just as many mistakes as Devere. He has a weakness for the ball over his head which he can't work out how to control.I admit it's not easy anyway. But two weeks in a row he got tied up and the striker beat him.Last week Theo saved hime. This week he gave away a frrekick. In both cases the safer option was probably just to boot it out even if thats towards our goal line.
Anyway ,there's not much point picking on defenders ,when most of the game is played in our half. The laws of averages say a mistake will happen at some time and last night ,the WSW goal was always coming after continual pressure amd the bus wheels finally falling off.

I think a lot of the problem in regards to playing out , keeping possession is the technical ability of Luke Devere , he can read the game well and win every ball in the air but his passing range is brutal and his body position whilst receiving makes me cringe . Everytime ball is played back I fear the worst , surely it is time to give Bowles a run at CB ?

I get all the ranting after last nights performance (but not after the SFC game where I think people are over reacting and need to watch the game back again).

But the solution is within reach, Aloisi just needs the clarity of thought and action to achieve it. At the moment Aloisi seems to be putting a lot of faith in Broich and it's not being repaid. So drop him.

We've played 8 games and had three different right wingers. One of whom (Oar) has never played right wing before so why play him there?

Maclarens getting chances but not finishing many, but 3 in 8 will improve if they put Petratos in midfield (not right wing ffs John)

Aloisi just needs to bring a bit of clarity to what he wants his players to do and some consistency in team selection, and in particular pick on current form not the number of JW medals a player has.

Who knows what's going on?
Is it Aloisi? Is the players we have?Is it the superior tactics of the opposition?Probably all three.
When CCM and WSW are adapting their play to keep the ball and seem to be improving,we have been going backwards and now are the team that can't keep the ball under any pressure and are more like the old CCM.
We would have a truer reflection of how bad Roar are playing if Theo hadn't saved them from defeat the last two games.
If Roar think that their counter attacking play is working ,they are kidding.Because they should have been flogged both games and in all liklehood their luck will run out soon.
Can't keep the ball, can't complete passes, can't press and can't win one on one duels in defence.
If you look at the players:
Broich is trying hard, but just isn't the i fluence he once was.So we no longer have a controlling influence up front.A player who once was the most fouled, barely can keep the ball and spends more time defending.
Oar,clearly a skillful player, but looks like a square peg in a round hole.He doesn't mesh with the old Roar passing game.He takes on players has shots on goal and gets back in defence. He contributes little to the old system
Holman, clearly has many skills. But he is like mr random. He is everywhere and nowhere.Again how do you build a passing game around a man who is all over the place doing his thing,no matter how good that is.
Arana, still underdone. It's difficult to fit into a system which seems to not exist.Has clear skills. But with no general to direct tradfic he looks lost at times.
Pepper is a pure defensive player.Yesterday he played in a pivotable position, which just added to the problems.Bowles would be better .
McKay is probably the most considtent player, but with players all over the place around him, what can he do?.
Just a mess!

What the bloody hell has happened to Brisbane this year?  If Mulvey got the arse because he didn't follow the club's 'philosophy' then how the hell does Aloisi still have a job?

Gone is the team I loved to watch that held the ball, toyed with the opposition, created goal scoring opportunities with surgical precision, were patient and fitter than any other team and ran over them in the last 10 minutes of any game.

Last night was an abortion of a performance.  Just awful.

Long hopeless balls to no one, scared to play out, aimless passing  to no one, hit and hopes into the box from the wings, no overlapping fullbacks, no pull backs from the by lines.  It's bloody frustrating.

Half the players are the same as when Ange was there (or in the system at least) so it can't be that.

Mackay needs to read them the riot act and Aloisi needs to pull his bloody finger out.  It's not good enough.

In the past 13 months we've certainly hoofed the ball a lot, always belting it up to Maclaren or Borrelo, even Theo gets into the act now.

That match against City a week back was horrendous, 38% possession with 66% pass accuracy at home, what would Ange say?

I thought we were actually trying to build something here but nah seem content on scrappy wins now.

Do you really want to be passing from the back with Theo the tinpot in goals?

I don't thin we are parking the bus. True we are not playing as higher possession based game as before but we are not playing hoof ball, we press we pass out of trouble and the defence is still holding a high line. It is good to see in attack we are playing more direct which suits the players we have. But the more direct you play the more risk of turning the ball over , hence the lack of dominant position
