Jesus that's awful/desperate.

Certainly doesn't inspire confidence.

The capacity of the Nix to move ball quickly could create all sorts of issues for our defense.

Will be an interesting game, for sure.

I agree that Gillesphey played better last week than he has done previously, but superb is a bit of a stretch.

“Superb” by A League standards. He’s only young don’t forget. He’s getting better week by week.

And there are few in this league that can knock a switch pass 60 or 70 yards like he can.

That won’t be the fault of our defenders though - that’s (a) the Roar midfielders problem to sort out and (b) the Roar attackers job to create problems for the Nix back line so the creative midfield of Nix spends time putting out fires of their own not creating problems for Roar.

That’s actually pretty good.

Gillesphey was superb last week not that many people are prepared to acknowledge it due to previously  held negative opinions.

Granted Neville in the Center is makeshift but you need someone with experience there and he can cover that.

And Hingert out on the right is a safe pair of hands.

I read that as those players as a back 3, hence the comment. If it's a back four with Brown on the left, Hingert on the right and Neville and Gillesphey in the middle, it's not as bad. Bowles out of the starting line up is a move in the right direction for sure.

I read it as him saying it is a back 3, with Hingert RCB, Neville CB Gillesphey LCB. Presumably Brown LWB (or wide left midfielder as some like to refer to it) and someone else RWB (McGing?).
Brisbane have mostly played with a back 3 this season.

He had a superb game in the eyes of those who name the team of the round too - and I gladly admit his good parts were exceptional last week. My concerns are for his lapses and seeming lack of interest in chasing back every time (he chased back some times).

I just want him to stop position marking and ball watching in the box above all else.

Also a fan of his left foot accuracy and distance.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Watch how often Gillesphey gets forward in open play, not just a bit forward but in the penalty box forward so he’s being asked to do a lot of forward running. His outside left must be in sync with him otherwise there’s problems not necessarily problems Gillesphey can be asked to fix.

I will, and I will also reserve judgement then until I pay more attention to all aspects of his play.

As someone with a defenders mindset it hurts me to see someone beaten whose first instinct every time is not to get back as fast as possible to provide whatever help they can. If he is worn out from pushing up there is a limit to what he can do.

3 at the back is not normal defending though.

Man murakovic must have been training the house down. He has been so ineffective leading the line or being the 2nd striker. Still young needs to get better. If he did what dwh did today it would be a different story.

5-4-1 in the first half. Not sure he’s got the nouse or soeed to play solo.

McDONALD gave us control of the game when he came on, DWH the cutting edge.

Dwh is a clinical finisher and hard worker... could be a good foil for mcdonald.

No comments about c brown.  Did ok. Better having a left footer. Workman like.

Yes thankfully we still have DWH , most can see that he has the desire to score which is something that can’t be coached .
Play him a 9 not 7 or 11 and he will drive CBs insane.

Bowles had a good day today - more like his old self with I think only 1 stupid Bowles moment that did not cost us. Pepper just won't close to shut down attacking threats - he hovers sort of between DM and centre and hangs off every time giving them time and space to build. Did some good things today as well though and always good energy.

Corey had a really good game (in front of me for the first half and tightened up that side considerably, Hingert had a really good game, I thought Neville had a good game but someone will tell me if I'm wrong on that :).
Gillesphey, other than being outpaced, had a good game too.
Edit: Corey was in front of me in the second half not the first (not that it matters).

Unfortunately Macca came on at the wrong end of the field and in the rain I had trouble picking him out - he did well?

Lucky to not concede - unlucky not to score another ourselves.

Loved seeing a ref issue yellow cards for shit play and professional fouls early on. Loved seeing the ref ignore obvious exaggeration - although I did see someone take a leg kick and go to ground only to be told to get up and play. Better to have it that way in my view.

Enjoyed the win, but another stressful last 15 minutes.

Well done Roar. Definite improvement as a team and most individuals stepped up today too. Muratovic is just out bodied and talking to the people I go to games with we wondered if Robbie might have him up front just to draw defenders and play more of a pivotal role for O'Shea and Inman. He seems very limited in what he is allowed to do and where he is allowed to go - but is still reluctant to close with defenders in a challenge. Might not see him starting next game although DWH as an impact sub is without question.

Well done Robbie.

Spanking indeed! :) :)

Yes. Bowles is the one you drop. Gotta be fair and he did ok today but we all know what lapses he has at times.

DWH was given a chance, took it and scored but importantly did the hard yards you expect from your 9.

As you should always tell your strikers, you got to do a lot of work and running for no ball.

Im happy to see McD and DWH with Mura and AAH from the bench maybe.
ROD is done for me I think.

DWH is on the pitch 30 minutes and gets one shot away, that’s part of his problem since Taggart left.

But play him down that central channel, facing goal, and he’s dangerous.

Corey Brown. Hasn’t  changed.

I think you're selling Corey very short. He played tight when he had to, was always watchful of danger and helping out, and was last man defence a few times at least when we really needed someone to get back. Going forward he offered something and that with little time to adjust to our players. Should get better at that too.

Well beyond a workman's role in my eyes. That left side was much more resilient than it has been all season.

When I wear their colours, I am the club.

Corey Brown. Hasn’t  changed.

DWH had one chance to get a shot in, which he created himself, and put it away. No one else created any shooting opportunities for him. He also set up a gilt-edged chance for Inman. He also harassed defenders throughout, making it difficult for them and slowing down potential counter attacks. He was on for 23 minutes plus stoppage time.
I’ll take that sort of form any day of the week.
