+x+x+x+xAs a rusted on Roar fan ..I can be biased..but I have to say ..being as objective as I can be ...we are an average side with some very average players . If we make the finals it will be a feather in Fowlers cap . We sometimes play well in fits and spurts but we lack the quality that Sydney FC have allover the pitch to be consistent . Too many sloppy passes and a lack of concentration at key moments . A prime example : last week when Inman missed that tap in ... can you imagine Barba or Alf missing that ?To me , as a one club town in the third largest town in Australia , we should be doing better. We need to be aiming to have the quality Sydney has . Hopefully Fowler is building towards that . ALF missed an easier one this week.
Fox commentator called it “the miss of the A League season so far, possibly ever” ... Nothing could have been easier than Inman's ...practically an open goal . You would have scored that one. Just watched the Sydney / VIc highlights ....guess “the miss of the A League season so far, possibly ever” didn't make it into the package. They showed plenty of other misses but not whatever that one was . BTW ALF also scored one and assisted another in a 3-0 win. Don't remember his "miss of the season so far ,possibly ever" So Waz ..are you disagreeing with my overall premise that Roar are an average team and should be trying to raise ourselves to Sydney's standard ? Try watching the whole game, you’ll see the miss then - maybe someone else remembers the miss?
And to try and make out “only Inman” could miss that is talking bollocks - all players miss sitters at some point yet somehow you’re trying to hold Inman to a different standard .... lol Berisha has missed a sitter this season and in the past, some bloke for Nix missed a Sitter vs SFC earlier this season that would have won the game. Anyone that’s been around football for more than five minutes knows it happens even to the best players. And if you want to talk football - that miss was caused by DWH: at the edge of the box he has a decision to make: pass, shoot, take on the defender?
If he’s passing it has to go straight away but instead he takes two additional steps (very common in Australian football) while he decides what to do and then decides to pass at which point Inman is 3-4 meters closer to the keeper who’s now rushing out. It’s still a scoreable chance but his xG has just halved
and do I agree with your “premise”?
You haven’t actually built an argument for a premise tbh but if you look at the statements I made preseason I said Roar were likely to be two quality players short of challenging for the title and the best they could hope for was third place and lead a long tail of average sides (that still holds true today although I’d say they need a 6, 9 and a 10 now).
And SFC are a good comparison. Four years ago they missed finals and their current success is built on sound recruiting (they stopped going for the ADPs), stability within the playing squad, and continuity of coaching. All things Roar should be aiming for, yes.
But you don’t have to turn on your team just because they’re not there yet. Shit happens and when it does passionate supporters stand by their team and the plastics fade away (and that’s not to say there’s no place for reasonable criticism because there is, but shitposting for sport - spare me pleeeeease). Wrote a long reply ...then decided your rant was not worth.it .. So I guess any opinion other than yours is "shitposting " ?...you arrogant blowhard ...oh and yes I watch all games every weekend and yes I have been around football more than five minutes . and yes ....Lefondre and Barbarouses do miss the occasional sitter ...but they also score and assist a shitload too. Hopefully Inman gets to that level too.

+x+x+xI've never seen a grown man cry . Wish him well mate, I have no idea what that means. What does it mean? Surely you jest , common knowledge that Waz dislikes players from SA playing for Roar . Good luck to the lad at newy , new coach aswell so new start for him. FMD this site is becoming dominated by cock heads.

All these allegations of shit posting and burner accounts is over the top - it’s just, in almost all cases, football fans having an opinion, which is what being a football fan is all about.

I was pleased with the movement of the forwards on Saturday. Both ROD and Amadi-Holloway are far too static for my liking. Wenzell-Halls and McDonald were anxious to get into gaps. Also I liked the cross field balls WH played which helped our attacks develop momentum. Playing on the cusp of the defence he doesn't do that sort of thing, but being a part of a pair up front he showed more of his game than I had seen. His first touch is improving. Compare him to Deng in the U23's, who has played more and he's a liability in that respect, but (and we go on about it ad nauseum) game time is essential for honing such skills.
At the back, Aldred didn't allow their forwards to drift off him as he normally does. Hopefully he sticks like glue to ALF this Friday.
All in all, this next couple of weeks will see where we are at, and I think we are headed up the ladder rather than down.

+xIs DWH under 23's? Anyone sure of his age. Yes he is only 22 and available for Olympic selection a much better option than Daniel Bouman who played in the last few games and imo better than AH Toure who also played

Yes, just comparing one who has outstanding control with one who lacks. If DWH had similar skills his game would be vastly improved. As a former forward it frustrates me that DWH hasn't got the skills. I used to laugh at fullbacks who couldn't trap a ball to save themselves. Ironic that the ball is on the other foot so to speak.

I found the two to five metre first touches rather frustrating against Uzbekistan. I still say DWH wears cement boots (must have good legs to run like he does in them) - but in his favour is first touch is often into space where he was sort of going to be running anyway and his speed often means he has a chance at a second touch. Must be a nightmare for a defender who does not know whether to cover a soft touch or hard touch, and in what direction, when DWH is travelling at speed.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

+xI was pleased with the movement of the forwards on Saturday. I am not very confident about us moving up the ladder in the next 5 weeks - although I am totally open to the prospect of it. If we are playing 5 of the 6 teams above us, and someone below us is playing a few of the lower placed teams, we might see ourselves slip a couple of places. That would go hard for some fans who might see it as backsliding, but if you can't play a good game and lose to a better playing team without losing respect it would make for a miserable time. I am hoping for a step up in defence, particularly against the top 3, and a continuation of Macca's increasing fitness and cohesion within the team.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

+x+x+x+xI've never seen a grown man cry . Wish him well mate, I have no idea what that means. What does it mean? Let you know on Wednesday. No need thanks. I asked because I thought there may have been an article or clip showing O'Toole unhappy at the prospect of leaving or someone else along similar lines. My mistake. Deal done by both sides. He actually is over the moon and so is his family. Maybe next time you see him ask him. How he feels .

But other than that - all the best to him. What might have been without injury at that moment in his career...

I was over the moon when we scored (and won). Should of heard my shout that frightened the hell out of the missus. However, whilst I'm happy about that, the comments by others that we are ordinary are not incorrect. And I can also add that we in the main, have to be the most boring side in the A-League this season. Newcastle in the earlier game showed some great play and skills, Petratos looked class. Fantastic entertainment. What the hell are they doing at the bottom of the ladder?

Brattan re-signed with Sydney, so we'll need to look elsewhere for a better DM.

Looking forward to the game against Sydney. A good test of how much progress has been made.

Fantastic entertainment. What the hell are they doing at the bottom of the ladder? Jets may be a team with better players but a lesser playing style and/or coach. In comparison, I still hold hope that we are a side whose parts coming together will be much greater than the initial individual expectation. The next five games will tell us where we belong at this stage of our evolution though. Hold our own or win in just a couple of them and we deserve to be in the six. Lose them all and we deserve to sit outside the six until we can improve more.
