+x+xHas been a long time since I’ve looked forward to our next match. Reckon it’ll be a cracker this Saturday. Agree on all counts 👍 You lost to a 10 man MC then beat the next to last MV and the last placed NJ then you beat an AU team that could nearly play u20s football and your next 4 games you play MV x 1 and NJ x 2. Can anyone explain the misplaced fervour, at BR, to me?

+x+xHas been a long time since I’ve looked forward to our next match. Reckon it’ll be a cracker this Saturday. Me too, unfortunately i can get to the game this week so will have to watch it on replay. MV have a good squad but have under-performed. It will be interesting to see how Moon has us set up this time out. if Mcmanaman is fit again for victory he is their main weapon and i suspect that we will start with 4 at the back and Brown will be told to man mark him, with Riku to play in front of him and peg Roux back (who has tended to get forward into the space that mcmanaman created by cutting in). last time we played them DWH played that role but didn't really work as he tended to play more central allowing the CB's to cover Roux. If Mcmanaman is out then i would not be surprised if we go to a 3 at the back system again and we really try to exploit the pockets like against adl. Against Adelaide it looked like we played with 5 at the back, ie 3 backs plus 2 wing backs. It worked very well with the players we have. Brown and Hingert were tucking in when required and did not play the main defensive role which mitigated the consequences of their defensive errors they are often prone to. Our defence is much stronger as a result.

I think it’s down to enjoying the football we’re playing and the atmosphere at home games .... it’s just enjoyable.
I think if you read down a few comments/pages you’ll find people optimistic “we’ll make finals” or “make top 4” ... and, unless I’ve missed it, no ones talking higher than that.

Our defence is much stronger as a result. It was a 3 at the back against adl with hingert and brown pushed higher up the park. it worked well because it simplified the defensive shape and responsibilities. with 2 of our CB's man marking their strikers with one cover/sweeper. Brown and Hingert's role was to pin back kitto and halloran which worked perfectly. We were under much more pressure in the second half with mauk coming on centrally meaning we could not man to man mark and had to slide between players.

A lot to be happy about.

I am loving the fact that I am loving things about our team this season :) Great news on both Aldred and O'Shea. This team is developing an excellent balance between experience/stability and youthful excitement. Moon and the club are much closer to making a dynasty of our club than others who may have professed to such goals in previous seasons.

I wouldn’t get carried away with that dynasty bit yet as Roar has extreme highs and lows and you don’t know what’s going to prevail from one season to the next. But to sign up these two players long term is fantastic. I’m loving this season so far too. Yeah I know, it’s early days, But.

But to sign up these two players long term is fantastic. I’m loved this season go far. Yeah I know it’s early days, But. Not necessarily thinking we ARE going to have a dynasty or even a team comparable to Broich and co - but at this point in time we look to be building as much for the future as for the present. It is the focus beyond "win today" or "win this season" that I see in how our squad is developing. Much the same as how I am not thinking each week about where we might end up on the table by season's end (and for the most part posters in this thread aren't concentrating on/discussing that every week either) - we have more to talk about looking at what we got out of last week and the anticipation of what we can look forward to in the next. That is such a satisfying change. Glad you are enjoying games again. I know that is no small thing :).

One word - "stability" comes to mind. Really like these two long term signings. Onwards and upwards.

Aldred is 30 so should have another 3-4 good years in him, maybe more as he looks fit and strong so shouldn't have too many injury concerns. O'Shae is 32 so hopefully is on a 2 year contract (though he talks about staying on after football so probably asked for 3 years to get his Residency). Gillesphey and Danzaki are players that I would be looking at locking down as well. If both continue with the way they have been playing they should attract OS offers.

+xClubs like Brisbane that withhold contract lengths are the worst. Yeah it's pretty annoying. Aldred had #2024 in his post about it, so I assume that means 3 years.

Appears Jamie Young is in tomorrow’s squad. Thought his injury was longer term?

From what I have read O’Shea has been given a 3 year contract. While I think it is a good move to tie him to a longer contract, I’m not sure about giving a 3 year deal (if this is correct) to a player who will be 33 before the start of next season.

Seriously, he’s been given “a three year contract” is exactly the same as “Young’s out for six weeks” .... he’s back tomorrow, 2 weeks later.

Heading to the game today, 1st home game for me, do I need to leave early to get a carpark at Dolphin stadium? What time you reckon I should be there, gates open up at 2:30.

Better to park on the street somewhere like Ashmole Road than in any carpark. Easier to get out after by a long way. I got there half an hour before kickoff last game and was about 3 blocks up Ashmole Road - still only a 5 minute walk though.

As RimB said, plenty of street parking Main Car Park is easiest but can be delays getting away afterwards (although they had car park Marshall’s on there for the first time last week which seemed to help)

Early days but i cannot wait to see what this team can produce this season. I haven't been this excited for a season for at least 4-5 years.
