Another game, another loss. Will Brisbane accept they were helped by a favourable opening draw? Are Brisbane in trouble?

+xAnother game, another loss. Will Brisbane accept they were helped by a favourable opening draw? Are Brisbane in trouble? No. Much as we discussed with you in the match thread. Our attack was rather aimless tonight yet still racked up the chances. Our defence was unusually misplaced and showed little commitment to stopping anybody - more just running with them. O'Shea had the ball often but was nowhere near as busy as usual - and it wasn't Perth shutting him down. Just lacked control and composure all over the pitch tonight. That is not how we play. An aberration that Glory took great advantage of with their quality finishers and all credit to them for that.
When I wear their colours, I am the club.

On another night, Roar win that. I think you guys are a good side this season, and it's just a couple of areas that need tinkering in order for you to completely hit your stride. There's certainly no need to hit the panic button, that's for sure. Imo, a LB and a striker, and it's a whole different equation for the Roar. That's where I think you're weakest

But many thanks for your interest. Jordan played a good game.

George and Jackson [definitely Jackson, Jordan was on the bench for BR last night] will be in good hands there, and I've no doubt that Piddick can take their game to another level. You just have to see what he did with Moreton Bay United in the NPL Queensland, who regularly punched above their weight imo. Best of luck to them :)

Can’t help you there. Trashy comment king? Obviously s/he didn’t see the 22-pass goal, or some of the other slick moves.
Roar deficient at both left and right back positions defensively (which we’ve pretty much all commented on over the past few months) and deficient in finishing (which we’d all hoped DWH would fix, but not looking like it will).

Tbf on DWH, he's pulling his weight in the goal-scoring stakes atm. It's the likes of Gol Gol, McDonald and Champness that need to be doing more imo, and that's not even including Kuto.

+x+xBrisbane have recently come up against teams in the top 6 who actually know how to defend and have now gone scoreless in 3 games. Are Brisbane in trouble? :hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:
The king is back. Yep 2nd on the ladder would suggest a massive malaise. What about now? Hehehe

I’d include all of them in the “not pulling their weight” tbh.
There is a reason the best strikers are typically visa players and that’s where Roar need to go next season; that might be Kudo but the fact he’s sharpening up in NPL isn’t boosting my optimism.
DWH has time to improve but is looking increasinglly like an impact f player off the bench not a starting striker

And therefore striker situation is not fixed. We love DWH, but a gun, probably international, striker is needed still if it's not to be Kudo and DWH will learn from him. I believe this to be partly the reason why SFC have been successful recent years. They have a good team all round but they have better finishers, LeFondre, Bobo etc. Corica has made sure they go after good finishers. Brisbane don't seem to have learnt that lesson still. Kudo may yet prove me wrong.

With all due respect, when you see Gol Gol leading the line, you know the striking options are thin on the ground. I'm struggling to see why he was signed.

Very harsh on DWH I thought he was one of the Roar's best players yesterday, looked dangerous going into the final third and with 5 goals to his name he's done not bad.
But I agree he needs others taking the weight on the goals, to me McDonald has been disappointing given his experience and ability to score goals he hasn't delivered this season so far.

FWIW, I don’t think we (Perth) are that good, more a case of the league being sub standard this season. At the game, DWH looked the only threatening Brisbane player, but zero end product. Definitely a much better Brisbane team compared to last season though.

Both team goals are a product of that which we dont see in the aleague that often.

Harsh maybe because he’s 23; and yes he’s no Fornorolli or Castro but DWH is the #9, he is leading the line, and he is expected to be the finisher. So he should be judged against high standards.
The feeling was that he is best used as an impact player off the bench, the first five games suggested maybe he’s a starter even if he can’t go beyond 70 minutes fitness wise.
The next 5 games should confirm which one DWH is.
(My feeling is Moon knows which is why they’re trying to accelerate Kudo).

+xAny stats available for shot conversion to goals for dwh and other strikers https://www.a-league.com.au/stats-centre#!/playersThats the A Lesgues own site.
The App ‘A League Live’ has a good player compare:
dylan:
goals 5 shots 39 on target 15 off target 24 with right foot 31 with head 7 with left foot 1 shot assists 6 goal assists 2 big chances created 1 passing accuracy 87% crosses 6 games 9 average minutes per game 84

15 shots on target out of 39 shots sounds ok to me. If he had say 4 more on target it would equate to 50% on target. That's decent imo.
I doubt the more experienced strikers would be getting every 2nd shot on target.

I know it's for only 5 goals but at least you making the keeper work.
