The new player is supposedly a Spanish midfielder by the name of Javier Hervas.

26 years old, from Sevilla but has been on loan at three Segunda (second division) clubs. Interesting.

* Most importantly there is another new signing imminent. The expression used was "he should be on the plane now" naturally JA was challenged where from? and all we got was "it's an international flight"
* Aloisi said the reason behind the mass release of youth players was he didn't feel they would be good enough for the HAL in two years time so they'd rather concentrate on the next layer down
* in terms of the ex players returning - JA said that was his idea and his decision, cited his time in Spain where clubs looked after their ex-players by providing work from coaching to admin jobs. Said it only applies if people were good enough but that was the fight club culture.
* Playing style will remain the same, just the patterns of play would be the varied
* not confrontational like last weeks, fans were supportive, some critical of this'd that hasn't renewed membership.
* Said the back office admin was being run with fewer people than needed all working long hours and there's a limit to what they can achieve - one of the compromises was only full membership packs were available, light versions not on sale yet.
* Players motivation was high, all being paid but talked at length about how difficult the winter had been
*announced the next fan forum would be on the 18th of November

Good feedback Waz, i saw that guy having a go at the Members who have not renewed. Probably the only thing the pissed me off about the night watching from the stream. No one has the right to have a go at fans for not renewing their Memberships period. Some Roar fans for a while now think just because they are members, they are superior than other supporters and like to boast etc ive been a member for so long... etc etc. I know a few that travel 3 hours each way just to see the team, they are not Members does that make them better fans than some others? Each person supports the team in their own way and some need to get off their high horse. Rant over

On the night, It is really hard not to like Aloisi, he says all the right things and comes across as a great bloke. He just needs to walk the walk now and i think he can do it. The new signing looks great and just thinking about our new midfield makes me excited for the first time this season. Steff also came across well, good bloke, funny and loves a good chat. Moore was good as well, i still have weird feelings about him the way he left the club and after when he was at the Gold Coast but people change so will give him a second chance.

Overall the feel of the night looked calm, laid back and was good to hear Roar fans laughing again.

The comment (sort of) attacking lapsed members didn't get any support in the room - muted clapping at best and I think even renewed members get it, we've taken a big leap of faith but don't trust the owners. I agree on the need to unite fans - everyone whether their casual or hardcore Den is important. That's the next thing for Riar to concentrate on

The main thing for me was that I left at the end of the night feeling good, and excited for tomorrow night's game.

With all the negativity around the club at the moment with ownerhsip issues, late salary payments, other debts, lack of training facilities, etc. it's easy to be disheartened. Last night's forum was a bit of a reminder for me that at the end of the day it's about the football. Despite all the negativity in the media, the players and coaching staff are 100% committed to the club, and so am I. Bring on round 1!

Yeah far more confident now. Also didn't lie about a new signing, wake up this morning to news of a new player. No player is safe in their starting spot, all spots of two very good options to play there.

we have theo/young
polenz/hinget north/donch/devere/bowls (when fit), stef/brown

corona/lustica /new guy/clut/ mckay /lamba/petrat
borello/brady/pet rat/ solo/jamie/ broich /ricky

I think that is it, but you look at that and go we have plenty of option and everyone needs to play well. I guess we don't know how the new visa will go, but given both their pedigrees you think they will be useful.

Bowles may have found a place in central defence which is his preferred position anyway; Brown is great going forward and lousy on positioning in defence but that is coachable.

I feel like i would rather have taken a punt on jackson than keep Bowles around. He just wont amount to anything.

is devere fit

call me crazy but I actually think we have a good team.
the two spaniards and mackay clut and lustica make a vicious midfield. Bowles and Brown are reasonable replacements

polenz devere hingert and donaghie make a good back four though that is our weakest point

solorzano broich borello are a good front three with henrique and petratos strong options as well

In theory this is a very good side

Nope, he's out for a while I think.

We can thank Thijssen for that, playing him injured against Villareal.

great

with him in we are a very good side

perhaps we should play to our strengths and play 2-5-3 :)

seriously though 3-4-3 isn't out of the question right?

Who would you cull?

I actually think we've got a decent side. There are a couple of positions we need to strengthen, but the main issues seem to driven by off-field problems.

For me Stef and Brown should be let go after this season, Bowles gone as well.
Petrat, Solo and North I will put in the maybe bracket depending on how they go this season.

At the forum with Aloisi the other night a bloke asked him "What 2 positions do you feel we need to strengthen? Who would you buy if we had space or the cap wasnt the issue?"

Steffanuto, who was there, almost fell off his chair. Even he knows hes the weak link.

JA said something like... "If the salary cap and money wasnt an issue id buy Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi".

For me Stef and Brown should be let go after this season, Bowles gone as well.
Petrat, Solo and North I will put in the maybe bracket depending on how they go this season.

Stef will retire at the end of this season, pretty sure he was only kept on due to the circumstances.
Brown - is good, too good to let go. You want to develop kids you have to let them play and when they do they makes mistakes. That's why we have coaches.
Petrat - must go
North - too old, must go
Solo - needs to go, he's occupying a visa slot but not delivering. He's also injury prone (twice alone in preseason which he started late because of injury and went off in to games because he was injured)
Bowles - I'm neutral on. Just play him in central defence please

After this season there really does need to be a cull and rebuild, finances permitting

Who would you cull?

I actually think we've got a decent side. There are a couple of positions we need to strengthen, but the main issues seem to driven by off-field problems.

I'd agree. I think we've got 8 or 9 off contract in the close season and I think I'd keep half and let half go just to freshen up the squad. I suspect this is also borrellos last season with us as well but by his choice

Nope, he's out for a while I think.

We can thank Thijssen for that, playing him injured against Villareal.

Out till February. It's not clear Frans made that call by the way - Stead and Rado picked that team, Frank was just the figurehead and flew out the next day by all accounts. Dumb decision tho. I'd feel a lot better if DeVere were starting tonight.

Anyone who thinks we have a good defence has rocks in the heads. Not one player is a sound defender.

Last season players seemed afriad to tackle, I remember a few times they just kept backing off giving the opposition room to shoot. Not sure whether that was their instructions or not though.

Agree, and even though North is getting on he still rates above most CBs in this league.

I am anticipating Dever will dominate this season and push for a roos spot again
