Does anyone have any good links or videos for good Football strength training program. I would like it to incorporate shoulders, biceps, chest and abs. Videos would be really appreciated.

greeny this is better suited to the performance section where it would be better placed to get the replies/start the discussion you appear to be looking for.

What do you mean by 'strength'?
If you are talking about pure muscle strength, then the powerlifting exercises of squat, bench press & deadlift done above 80% max and around 5 reps per set is the way to go. There are lots of variations to these basic principles. However, it is recommended that you have done weight training for 2 years first, due to the stress put on the central nervous system.

http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/soccer-strength-training.html is a general info sort of site.

http://www.strengthandconditioning.org/ if you want to find personal trainer for it.

Search YouTube for soccer strength & conditioning and you will find heaps of videos.

This is a good example but not for this kids age: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IHJ6hrNoEw

Probably for the same reason every person who is involved in a game that involves running, turning and general athleticism does.

This topic is a real sore point for me. I've watched dozens of agile athletic young sportsmen come into rugby league only to put on 15kgs+ in their first off season so they can compete physically to the detriment of the game. If I wanted to watch WW Wrestling I would.

Kaz Patafta is the only player I have seen do some serious bulking up as he was piss weak on the ball and he still seemed pretty piss weak after the strength programme. I also vaguely remember Zullo being interviewed during his 1st off season and he mentioned doing a core strength programme but nothing to do with putting on any weight or building up any other areas.

If you check out US football (gridiron) sites there is plenty on them about bulk =/= strength. Strength & conditioning techniques should not necessarily increase bulk but should improve how you utilise your muscle power.

Jesus don't start him. LOL

Seriously though my boys do nippers in the off season and apart from them having heaps of fun it is a sport that builds natutal strength with lots of board paddling and swimming. It also takes the pressure off their legs bit. I didn't realise how much pressure football puts on young kids legs from quite an early age.
