That last statement is bollocks. I've got a lot of strictly-friend females and some I've been mates with since Year 7-8. If you want a boy-girl friendship to last, you really have to pretend the other person is genderless. I act no different to my girl mates as I do my guy mates.

I agree with this, sex is always going to be a factor in these sorts of friendships but it doesn't have to be the defining factor. Maybe it's subjective to each unique situation but I've got plenty of female friends I would love to fuck but I find it pretty easy to suppress that and not let it factor into the friendship.

I've got a few really close friends who are girls but in general, yeah it's hard to maintain.
