In other news I want to punch the psychotic bitch that is my mate's ex. After a few visits to him after he moved up to Northern NSW, in the space of around a day she went from telling him she loved him to dumping him and hooking up with a mate of his.

Now after 6 months upwards of that, he was devastated and bordering on suicidal, she is sending him suggestive pictures and telling him she regrets breaking up with him. The bitch is a pathological attention seeker. It has become a running joke to count how many times she can walk into a conversation and say 'I' or 'Me' in one go.

Yet somehow a lot of people seem to really like her, and without fail every party I get invited to she does to and walks into ever conversation basically screeching "ME ME ME", that's the subtext at least.

Ok, so here we go.

So in Jan/Feb i went to Uk for my cousins wedding, and on the side to see if i could find a girl. Now i know that sounds a bit weird, but in Islam there is no girlfriend/boyfriend if you will. People do have boyfriends and girlfriends, it does happen but islam does not encourage it and so its different. Especially in the Indian/Souther African muslim community the way it works is such. When you feel you ready then you either find a girl (through uni, maybe met her at a party etc etc) and after speaking to her as a friend for a few weeks i guess you then tell your parents if you like her. They in turn speak to her parents and then it goes from there. Alternatively, if you havnt met anyone, you just tell you parents that you interested in finding someone and then they try and help you out.

So anyway, i was in England and my dads niece was going to help me out. So anyway, whilst im there i find this girl (lets call her Mrs W). Shes pretty, smart, witty, unique, different and is kinda the type of girl i would look for. The things she likes and the way she talks and everything, just pretty much everything, its what i would want or look for. So anyway, i tell my dads niece about her and she says she will speak to her mum. She does and then tells me how it went. I decide to speak to her mum and she tells me that, at the moment, telling Mrs W may not be the best idea as it could potentially scare her off. Obviously i told my cousin after getting to know here a bit and so on. Anyway, so I dont really do much apart from just continue to chill and talk to her as a friend.

Whilst im there, people start getting the impression that we actually like each other and a few people even mention it to her, but she plays it off as just close friends. Fine by me, i didnt really expect much from this, after all, it was only 3 weeks and Indians dont generally tend to fall in love with someone that quickly, also her circumstances are different. By now my parents know that i like her too and they say that its fine and to just see how it goes.

So i return to Aus and we whatsapp each other every now and again and so on so on. We keep in touch and what not. Anyway, she then comes over to Aus for a 6 week holiday with her mum and brother. Why did they come here you ask? Well the thing is, my brother is married to her sister. So yea, shes my sister in laws sister. Anyway, whilst shes here we chill and hang out and what not and i get to know a bit more about her and she says a few things that makes me realise that maybe its best i just dont say anything and just try and get over it and move. What sort of things you ask now? One comment was along the line of a 4 year gap is big enough. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that shes 18.......im 25. Sooooo anyway, we still hang out whilst she is here and i enjoy every single moment. In all of this, she has no idea how i feel about her and so on. Most people know, my parents, he mum, my sister, and about 4 of my cousins. She doesnt know anything at all.

Now everyone keeps telling me that i have two options, either i wait, which could mean waiting 2-3 years by which time im about 28 and im not sure i want to wait that long. I mean, i could be waiting then asking her and if she says no, im back at square one. The other option is to just try and get over it by myself and shell never find out and we just stay as friends, because lets face it, ive never met a friend like her and i dont want to do something silly and scare her off. I finally have a friend i can understand and she can understand.

Anyway, they left Brisbane today and im just sitting here feeling kinda shit because trying to get over this is turning out to be a lot harder than i figured. So thats my story, sorry if it pissed you off i guess. Im off to the ROar fan forum now.

I don't fully understand this part. If it's setup so you let your intentions known, apporvals are given, everything seems relatively formalised and in a weird sense out of the persons control and more in the parents control - I don't understand how people can "not want to pressure someone". Seems like a lot of pressure, seeing as though before it has even happened you're getting the nod of approval & all
