Man Utd Lucas bid rejected - report

Reports in Brazil suggest that Manchester United have had a €38 million bid for Sao Paulo youngster Lucas Moura rejected.

Lucas, 19, is a major target for Manchester United this summer, who are believed to have officials in Brazil working on a deal and saw an earlier €32 million bid turned down.

The Brazil midfielder, who flew to London on Tuesday to take part in the Olympic Games, was thought to also be a target for Italian giants Inter Milan, but the Serie A side are reportedly unable to meet the player's asking price.

Sao Paulo president Juvenal Juvencio is reluctant to sell his starlet, believing Lucas to be an important player in a potential Copa Libertadores challenge.

Globo Esporte quote a source close to the club hierarchy as saying: "Football is about winning titles and there is nothing more important. He will be an important player in any titles this club may win."

Lucas, who is in the process of negotiating a new deal at the Brazilian side, is known to be interested in a move to Europe, with his current salary less than €100,000 a month.

Sao Paulo, though, are determined to hold onto their prized asset, as Juvenal Juvencio looks to build a side capable of success, despite United's reported offer meeting their initial asking price.

Fuck, I'd rather we spend half that and get Eriksen tbh, don't get me wrong I'd be stoked if we signed Lucas, but that price is ridiculous and I think a player like Eriksen is a bigger priority.

This, I'd much rather see us splash some cash on Eriksen who already plays in Europe as apposed to a kid who could well flop in Europe

If that reported offer is true, it is a piss take that it has been rejected.

I'm surprised he didn't sign with someone bigger tbh. There was talk of him joining Monchengladbach, but that never materialized. Best of luck to him for the future though. Personally, I think he liked being in a relegation battle so much last year that he decided he wanted to do it all again this year.

From what I saw he was ok, didnt think he warranted the 10 mil price tag though, I also dont think he organised the defence well enough.

How much of that was down to language barrier issues though? Because that could improve this season. You don't get results from chopping and changing your keeper every season.

Yea I know, personally I dont want Julio at the club, Im not Steklenbergs biggest fan, id personally like to see Curci given a chance but its how it is. In recent seasons we have had no stability with keepers, we have had Julio sergio, curci, doni, lobont and Steklenberg. They need to chose a keeper and stick with them imo.
