Yea I know, personally I dont want Julio at the club, Im not Steklenbergs biggest fan, id personally like to see Curci given a chance but its how it is. In recent seasons we have had no stability with keepers, we have had Julio sergio, curci, doni, lobont and Steklenberg. They need to chose a keeper and stick with them imo.

They should stick with Stekelenburg, the guy is a very talented keeper who can organise the defence well. I think that this season he's probably struggled with the language a little more than he should have, but a tired defence saw Roma concede a lot of goals towards the end of the season. They need to do something about their depth down back, especially after losing Cicinho and Juan over the summer.

I dont fault him because I know that the defence is was a massive issue, both Juan and Burdisso hardly played due to injury, Hienze was inconsistent, Kjear struggled to adapt, Taddei who is a winger was used as a left back over Angel. Not to mention Casetti was played as a CB and hes aweful.

It will be interesting as they have signed Dodo and Castan from Brazil and are looking at another defender who is relatively unknown to European football, not to mention Kjear looks set to rejoin Wolfsburg.

I dunno what you're talking about with Kjaer 'failing to adapt', he played 2 seasons for Palermo and there's no reason for him to have struggled to adapt back to Serie A after 12 months in Germany. I think it was probably more down to a lack of a competent partner at CB.

I meant to say struggling to adapt with the team, though admittedly Hienze left him hi and dry a fair few times (as they were the only 2 CB available for most the season). He just didnt quiet gel with the team, I dont think Luis Enrique had much fair in him either.

Cahill set for MLS move

Everton have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Major League Soccer for the transfer of Tim Cahill to New York Red Bulls for a nominal fee.

Cahill has built a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder - but he netted just two Premier League goals last season in 35 appearances, and manager David Moyes is willing to let him move on.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls.

"Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days."

Cahill's exit would free up space on the wage bill for Everton to complete the signing of Steven Pienaar from Tottenham Hotspur, after his successful loan return last season.

The Australia international joined Everton for £1.5 million from Millwall in 2004 and has made 278 appearances for the club, scoring 68 goals.

Cahill said in June that he was considering a move to the Middle East, but it seems America is his most likely destination.

Should he join Red Bulls, he would link up with former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and ex-Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez.

Could have stayed for another year I guess but it's a decent move for him. Great servant for Everton and will be loved for a long time I'm sure.

I suppose it's better than losing another Socceroo to the Middle East, will definitely be leaving big shoes to fill at Everton.

Losing a socceroo to the MLS will bode even worse for the NT given travel times will increase significantly for him.

Everton fans seem pretty upset that he's leaving too.

Malaga are denying this quite vehemently. But it looks like they're going to lose Cazorla and Rondon in one way or another in the next couple of weeks.

I believe Al Thani's net worth has taken a bit of a hit the last 12 months...but that still doesn't explain why the club is broke and what the hell is going on . I guess just because you're owned by a billionaire doesn't mean that he's going to bankroll every financial whim of the club - it's one thing to spend big on player transfer fees but paying their wages for a prolonged period isn't necessarily sustainable, especially for a club like Malaga who are relative minnows in global branding and only play in front of a 29k capacity crowd.

Does that mean we will definitely have closure on the Cazorla saga by next Tuesday?

Malaga have reached an agreement with the players to pay the outstanding wages; 50% by August 1st, 50% in November. If that happens the 4 players who have lodged complaints with AFE (thought to be Mathijsen, Cazorla, Rondon and RVN) have agreed to withdraw their grievances.

I don't know what else the club is owing, but the fact that the club are dragging this out until November means this could go on for a while.
