Seems like West Ham get all the good parts of that deal. All parts except the player himself. Well West Ham are saying no such deal has been agreed, so sounds about right

I will be very, very, very disappointed if we loan Carroll out. But I understand the manager needs to get people off the wage bill/make some money to bring others in. And I trust Brendan to assemble a good squad.

Apparently Heitinga has been linked with Inter as well as Fenerbahce.

Carrol to West Ham sounds like a done deal at this stage. Cheap too. Only a good thing for Liverpool imo. -PB

Yeah, Liverpool selling the player for half what they paid for him is a 'good' thing for the club.
In the last 5 years Liverpool have spent more than 15m on 6 occasions, if Carroll and Aquilani leave as rumoured this summer, Suarez will be the only one still at the club. That's not a good track record for their player research.

As bad as it is for Liverpool considering the amount they have spent on him, they do have to get rid of him if they want to move forward.
So selling him is a good thing in my eyes.

Who is the 6th one... oh yeah, we'll ignore him

Profit isn't the point I'm making. The point is if you're spending that kind of money you expect a long-term commitment to a club.

Really? We got a fair few seasons out of those players, it wasn't like they were just here for one or two. And then when we had our drop in form/BS with the owners, it's only expected for a lot of them to leave.
It will take us years to recover from our close scrape with administration. I'm grateful every day that FSG saved us, without them we'd be totally fucked.

Not one of those players has completed a third season for the club. It's entirely like they were here for just one or two.

I'd rather Andy didn't commit long term tyvm. Pool will be better off without him as they've been up and down since 2005, the renaissance is around the corner, they just need to invest wisely and have a manager that can pull it off. Andy doesn't fit in with that. -PB

you're going nowhere fast if you keep making 35m outlays and then only make 50% of that back.

Torres was here for four different EPL seasons, Xabi was here for 5 and Masch for 3. Torres didn't complete his fourth season, Masch didn't complete his third. And Xabi was only signed for 11m. Liverpool have reportedly rejected a £16million bid from Man City for Daniel Agger. Everton have completed the signing of Pienaar. Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be the front runner to sign Inter's Julio Cesar.

That City bid for Agger is apparently their 2nd after they had a 13m bid turned down

Santi Cazorla is set to join Arsenal from Malaga after the two clubs agreed to a 17m fee for the midfielder. The deal is subject to a medical this afternoon.

Arsenal have built nicely over the window. Podolski and Cazorla are 2 very good signings.

If we can finish the window with Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla and maybe hopefully Sahin I will be feeling much better about this season than I did last, even if RvP leaves. I mean if we could get both Sahin and Cazorla in the difference between this summer and last would be incredible

I wouldn't call Per a flop, he took a while to get used to the league, but once he did he was solid and just unfortunately his season was cut short. Santos the same, although his poor was much poorer than Per's. He also took time to adapt but before he got injured against Olympiakos even he was showing some good signs. Even then, I think the success of the Arteta signing more than made up for any bad signings last summer imo. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 2/8/2012 10:00:41 AM

Cazorla, if he comes, will be playing through the middle, most likely as the most advanced midfielder just off the striker.

(Rosicky) Sign left winger - play him in central midfield. (Cazorla) Seems like the Wenger way.
