Obviously based off this photo: That's Leonard Siffleet, who was a 27 year old RMIT Graduate, just like I am now. :(

Pretty clear the intention was to reinforce that he was a real person one can relate to, underscoring that the horrible loss of life and other things that happened in the war was a terrible thing that shouldn't be forgotten and obviously nothing to do with me and my massive vanity personally. Not that it needs explaining.

He wasn't trying to paint himself as a hero. He was merely implying how lucky we are in this country and that we have a choice to join the army or not. Back then it was mandatory service due to conscription and anyone regardless of profession was recruited. I thought you would have been more intelligent to realise. Shhhhh................ It's all gone quiet over there... What's happened to Whiney Pyney and Smokin' Joe? They were all over the telly a few weeks ago and now you don't hear a peep from them. Good thing they're not off negotiating with the minor parties like Tone said they wouldn't. What a hypocrite he'd be if that happened eh?

Opinion polls in my electorate have Pyney on the nose \:d/ I don't hold much hope of getting rid of the "grub" but it's a nice fantasy to day dream about :) Edited by mcjules: 16/7/2014 10:54:07 PM

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-16/hockey-appeals-for-compromise-on-budget-cuts/5600064Not a smart move Joe. The conservative media are getting very twitchy about the senate, it's not their job to just rubber stamp government policies.

Abbott has caused quite a stir amongst Sydney Anglicans (not sure about the rest) by saying that the refugees trying to come to Australia are 'un-Christian'. Not a bright move there Tony.

Now certain media types are spruking that if certain budget measures aren't passed it will put us into an endless deficit for at least the next decade or two! -PB

-PB Yep that's the twitchiness I was referring to. Well the carbon tax has finally been repealed, a shameful day in our history IMO.

Everyone catch Tone on 730?
Turns out that he can't talk about the 153 missing Tamils, but he can assert that Tamil Tigers invented suicide bombing just weeks after praising WWII Japanese "courage".

What is wrong with internalising a negative externality into the the pricing mechanism to ensure the consumer is presented with all the factors of the cost of production to allow a rational decision to be made with one's scarce resources? The rational consumer is fundamental to market economics, and while negative externalities remain it is adversely impacting upon efficient resource allocation.
