Christopher Pyne has set up a petition to stop cuts to SA production in the ABC. The hypocrisy is off the charts.

Could get hairy for Commandant Newman.

FTA has been 10 years in negotiation so it's the product of both major parties 2. You're talking about federal politics and we're talking about a state issue.

Funny watching Turnbull on the 7.30 report try and defend Abbot saying "there'll be no cuts to the ABC" the night before the election and now they're cutting their funding 5%. Gillard got crucified for saying "there'll be no carbon tax" and somehow Abbot gets away with not 1 but about half a dozen broken promises. Poor Turnbull. He didn't know what to say.

Oh fuck off:lol: . Labor probably sent the negotiations backwards, they cant close shit. It doesnt surprise me labor are trying to steal credit for it though, like they tried to steal credit for stopping the boats.

Was thinking about this earlier today  Apparently if you throw out slogans to the braindead like "mandate", "earn or learn" and "layburz forlt" they'll get on their knees in an instant. EDIT: See above. Edited by Draupnir: 19/11/2014 10:50:43 PM

Poor Turnbull. He didn't know what to say. Saying there will be not cuts to the ABC, which will put money in the back pockets of Australians and less into bloated, oversized , overpaid, biased public broadcaster is a bit of a different lie to swindling Australians of thousands of dollars to help pay the carbon bills of major polluters.

I could have written just as flippantly that these agreements have been signed because the Liberal party are much more willing to sell our arses and get an agreement just to benefit their corporate overlords. There's just as much evidence of that...

Anyone else very keen for the current generation of politicians to die out? I think there is going to be a huge generational policy shift when the next crop begins to come in. The national young Liberal leader was on hack the other day talking about the idea of changes to our current laws on the topic of ecstacy etc. What was actually refreshing to hear though was him being candid and open saying he knew, and is friends with people who do drugs like MDMA. Dare say a young wealthy boy like himself has definietly partaked in his fair share of coke and pingers

They would saying things like "Tony is selling our asses to benefit the corporate overlords" which is the typical bile you get when something positive is acheived for the economy,

I suppose it was all a major coincidence then that Abbott sealed three FTAs in a year, with a forth on the cards. Just lucky I spose. Good timing I guess. Right place at the time.

Whatever your politics Gillard got caned for saying one thing and doing another. Fair being fair Abbot should cop the same. I mean he stood there and said "there'll be no cuts to the ABC". Whether or not it's a good idea, or whether you are a rabid ABC hater, like Rusty, is irrelevant. He's been hoisted by his own petard and rightly so.

rusty wrote:..... is a bit of a different lie to swindling Australians of thousands of dollars to help pay the carbon bills of major polluters. No. That's what's happening now. They are taking your money, my money and every taxpayer's money and they are using it to abate carbon made by big polluters. The carbon tax under Labour was levied on the big polluters. If I asked a 10 year old what's better, collecting money or paying money what do you think he/she would say? How you can sit there and defend "direct action" is beyond rational thought. It's a joke irrespective of your political leanings. Even Abbott said a ETS was the go but given his stupid pigheadness and general crucifixion of Gillard he could hardly keep the old one going could he. Surely Australia's dumbest Prime minister to date and that's saying something.
