The timing is right for her and her views.

She will get a seat no doubt.

See, is there any real need or "market" for her views anymore when the major parties basically saw how many votes there were in her views and basically acted to swallow them up years ago?

That's the funny and ironic thing, her ideas have been yanked haha.

I do think though that she will be aiming at that Reclaim style of voter even though they are the minority at the moment.

You'll be suprised. There are a lot of people who dont like labour or lnp and despise the greens. They would vote for pauline .or the upf's party

Well, Turdball is a neoliberal, so more apt would be, "why didn't you sell a kidney on the free open market, so as to afford a house with broadband?"

So while they aim for us to be the country who can do the fastest speed tests, meanwhile our cities are grinding to a halt to due lack of investment in public transport.

tldr; You don't like the project and you have another pet project you'd rather they spend money on.

That's cool. I'd rather they didn't cut company tax and use the $50 billion dollars in lost revenue to invest in metro rail projects. Whatcha gonna do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That 50 billion happens to belong to every private man woman and child

Yes but not all of them would be Australians. An infrastructure project like metro rail could be built with that money would belong to every private man woman and child in Australia. It also ignores why you do these infrastructure projects in the first place. I'm not going to go over all that stuff again, it's only a dozen pages ago.

Yeah, but major metro rail projects should be funded by the private sector.

Well, well, well. Who would have thunk it?
The Greens may take a chunk of votes of the Nats
If they're smart, they should direct preferences in Barnaby Joyce's seat to Tony Windsor and he'll have a real chance of getting up.

Quote:
Greens leader Richard Di Natale has indicated his party would support the introduction of a floor price for milk, significantly tightening regulation in the dairy industry.
Senator Di Natale made the comments at the regional leaders debate in Goulburn on a day when dairy farmers protested across the country in response to milk processors slashing prices paid to farmers.
"We need to decide whether we set a floor on it, I think that's one option that's up for debate," Senator Di Natale said.
"But the point here is we cannot continue to have a sustainable dairy industry while Coles and Woolies are ripping off dairy farmers."
Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce immediately refuted the idea and said the Government would not re-regulate the industry....

Regardless of whether one supports the Greens or not, under Di Natale they have been very good campaigners so far. Very clever in finding wedge issues to use against the ALP such as the penalty rates issue. Now they are using this against the Nats.

Be interesting to see how this translates on polling day.

Floor pricing in milk and similar regulations are surely common sense for everyone right? If you let prices drop too far you push out smaller players and get stuck with the big guys who then start dictating terms. New Zealand had a few issues with this sort of thing happening.

Not according to the neocons.
You see they believe the 'free market should determine prices'
The problem is there is nowhere on the planet that we can physically get anywhere near the concept (& that is all it is, a concept) of a free market. The closest you get to a true free market is the money market & share market.
Additionally, the neocons conveniently ignore that in a free market there is, by & large, no monopolies or duopolies, or in the case of the dairy market, monopsony or duopsony.
This is why, on the surface, the idea of capitalism with a free market to resolve all inefficiencies sounds sensible, but it ignores the reality of how mankind operates. As such neoliberalism is a very simplistic ideology - they don't want to accept the nuances of all the errors with this ideology when applied to reality.
An out & an out profit driven entity, will almost always try to get away with whatever they can, even if its illegal. This is a key reason why neoliberalism is inapplicable. The ideology also doesn't solve externalities/pollution - it is a deferred economic cost.

I think we've proven that it doesn't work. People are all too happy with $1/Litre milk, but every man and his dog is on FB saying what a disgrace Coles and Woolies are. However, we're the ones buying milk but also complaining about the rising cost of living. Same goes with north QLD banana farmers but theres no outrage for them as they're not the flavour of the month.

With all things there needs to be a balance. Producers need a fair price for their products. We cannot afford to lose industries because we as the public refuse to pay fair prices for things. However consumers need a realistic price for the goods they buy or we have cost of living issues.

There are smarter people than me who would be able to give a reasonable idea as to how to work this practically.

Election 2016: Turnbull in damage control after Barnaby Joyce links asylum seekers to live exports

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is in diplomatic damage control today, rejecting his deputy Barnaby Joyce's comments that a 2011 decision to suspend live cattle exports to Indonesia is linked to an increase in asylum seeker boats.

Mr Turnbull said "there is no link between the Indonesian Government and people smuggling" and praised the leadership of Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo.

"We have a good relationship with them. I think President Jokowi is a great leader, he's in fact an inspirational leader," Mr Turnbull said....

Nova Peris on leaving parliament made a statement which concerns me: "Until you are an aboriginal don't judge me".

I'm sure people will be quick to jump on her for the "poor black me" type comment but lets face it, all reports suggest she did fuck all as a senator. Is there an issue with racism in the NT parliament?

I think the wider issue to is having celebrities in government.
