+xOur Democracy is being attacked and it is dying, the Liberals getting re-elected and having no accountability for their recklessness and division will ensure that the Liberals know they are accountable for nothing. Democracy dies in darkness and the Coalition are making it pitch black. Oh no this is terrible ! We must ban news Corp stop them from disseminating lies about the Labor party. We must also arrest and detain Christians in order to stop them persecuting homosexuals and non binaries with their vile hate speech! As for Liberals, they are all fascists at heart, unless they repent and convert to socialism they must be executed in order to protect vulnerable minorities. This is the only way to ensure that democracy and free speech is preserved!

+xthe sky is falling, big brother gonna get you all :) This is the same old and same old. When Trump gets elected, the sky falls and it is a calamity. Same thing with ScoMo. The reality of course is that the USA is trucking along and the Australian Budget will be in the black in 2020 under current projections. The Left are in an alternative universe. First it was accusations of Russia collusion, now it is News Corp media despite them predicting an ALP victory and getting it wrong.

+xNow that the election is over the AFP is going around raiding journalists. We really are a police state. This is what the ALP advocate. Our side is more on the freedom of press aspect whereas you guys always like to de-platform.

+xthe sky is falling, big brother gonna get you all :) Yep the police and government are infallible and not made up of many imperfect humans. Why even have laws for them? Let them do whatever they want. History tells us everything should be fine if we let that happen.

+x+x+xHow can the AFP be at arms length from the Government lol? These raids are deeply concerning, especially given the timeliness of them and the broad scope of the warrant. -PB The fact that the warrant gave the AFP the ability to "delete or modify" content on the ABC's computers is particularly chilling. Does that not give them the power for them to directly tamper with/fabricate 'evidence'? Or News lol? How longs the warrant last? For what scope? Which fucking judge approved that? -PB

ok still not clear so in her case its a year old article so its been in the open compared to others that obviously have been cut off.
Are you saying there's more stuff that we don't know? Yes I agree, not sure the point though. They're trying to find out who leaked the info to put them behind bars for a very long time. In other past or future case's what do you want ? we are never going to know the real facts of disclosed information reported.
I want information that is in the public interest such as the fact that a government agency wants the power to spy on the average citizen (smetthurst case) or that our troops killed unarmed civilians in Afghanistan (ABC case), to be able to be reported on and the whistleblowers to be protected. Are you suggesting that this info isn't "real facts"? Its not right but the media will always report/let out of the bag if someone is being pursued.
I disagree, the media regularly withhold reporting on information in the interest of the community (i.e. trying to arrest a suspect). Neither of these cases are anything to do with that though so I don't know what your point is. Someone let out Smethurst' case.If by "let out" you mean gave the info to smethurst then yes and that person should be protected. As much as it may frustrate you you are never going to know what really goes on behind the AFP and similar.
I don't need to know everything that goes on in the AFP or similar, somethings for national security reasons should rightly be kept secret to either protect vulnerable people. There are other things though that are in the public interest and the media should be able to report on it. The AFP and other government organisations should be there to serve the community, not their own or the people in power's interests.

+x+x+xOfcourse its right having a right to know but if its about the disclosure of information let the feds investigate no matter who. So how are we supposed to know if anyone that discloses information is going to be pursued and jailed? in her case its a year old article so its been in the open compared to others that obviously have been cut off. +x+xRemember that evil witch Michaelia Cash sicced the AFP onto the unions so they're not above doing this stuff. And nothing ever came of that lol -PB Another awful thing she did was refuse to give evidence to the AFP over her own potential misconduct. While legal, it's an unethical as a minister.

+x+xIf you actually look into it, the RBA was not setting interest rates in Australia because the AUD wasn't floated at the time. Now I know why conservative economics appeals to you, you genuinely have absolutely zero idea as to how any of it works. The best bit is 'had nothing to do with Fraser/Howard' (AND 21.4% interest rates) unless of course it was the Keating recession (18% interest rates) and then it had 'everything to do with Keating'. Reminds me of climate change deniers who don't trust the science unless they're quoting the science that backs up their position. Then the science is rock solid. That's exactly what's going on here.

+x> Aikhme doesn't know how to open an excel file It's mind boggling. Actual sources and not man enough to apologise. I mean I'm not going to carry on about the way him or Rusty would forever and and day because at the time there was a lot of shit going down that was outside the control of whoever was in power at the time. But it just goes to show what a disingenuous and dishonest poster you're dealing with when in the face of cold hard evidence he can just look blithely at you and say 'don't know what you're talking about'. Reminds me of Trump. 'You called Meghan nasty" 'What? Fake news, MSM beatup" "There's literally a recording of you saying it" "Never happened". I think Mouflon lives in a Trump, KellyAnne Conway alternative facts universe. PS: John Howard = Highest rates EVA!!

I've been flat out campaigning for months for this federal election.
I don't usually talk about it on forums, because my day to day life involves politics nearly every day - door knocking, holding stalls at shopping centres and shows, leafletting and phone banking. These activities supposedly effect people's voting behaviours, according to evidence based research.
More passive activities are demonstrations, wobble boarding, marches and rallies, and, letter boxing.
I've attended to 5 -6 political actions in a week in recent times! A few years ago I did about 6 demos in a good year.
The fed Lib and state govts have united a massive number of activists in the union movement, civil liberties and environment. ATM the union movement is the most dynamic!
We lost the election, but the marginal seat we campaigned in, Lyons, returned Labor.
Our other two Southern Tas electorates are two of the most left leaning/progressive in Aus.

Anyway, so this is why 3 word slogans, fear campaigns and having no policy platform work in elections.
