https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/politics/josh-frydenberg-accuses-anthony-albanese-of-hypocrisy-over-sports-rorts-scandal/news-story/63eb5b123501a221c9d02ce00acebacdThe Morrison government has accused Anthony Albanese of “hypocrisy” over the sport rorts scandal, pointing to an Auditor-General’s report that found the Labor leader administered a grants program that “disproportionately” gave money to Labor seats when he was infrastructure minister.
“I’m reminded that there was an ANAO report number 3, 10-11, into a $550 million infrastructure program,” the Treasurer said.
“The Auditor-General went on to say on page 48, and I quote: ‘The awarding of funding to projects disproportionately favoured ALP seats.’ In fact, the Auditor-General found when it came to funding, ALP electorates had a success rate almost three times the Coalition.”
———
I wonder if those who raged against the “corrupt “ Bridget Mckenzie will apply the same parliamentary and ethical standards to the guy who wants to be next PM, and demand that he hand in his resignation as Opposition leader.
Didn’t think so..

+xScott Morrison has repeatedly defended the sport grant program because of its focus on female participation in community sports, saying the government had directed funds to projects “because we didn’t want to see girls changing in cars or out the back of the sheds rather than having their own changing facilities”. But documents seen by the Guardian show at least 12 applications for grants to build or upgrade female change rooms were rejected by then sports minister Bridget McKenzie, despite receiving excellent scores from Sport Australia, the body that assessed proposals against objective, independent criteria. One of the rejected applications – a bid by the Cherry Gardens Ironbank Recreation Ground to build female-friendly change rooms – scored 94 out of 100, one of the highest scores in the nation.
Rofl.
-PB It's not the role of Departments or Department heads to decide, only to put forward the recommendations to the Minister. Anyway calling departments objective is way off when the Labor Party increasing wages of public servants up to push their agenda, not to mention win their vote, is as despicable as anything we've seen here.

After all that mudslinging of Rudd and the GFC and the idealogues have finally caved in. Here's hoping it's not too little too late, given the fact they've been ignoring calls for stimulus for months now. -PB

I dont know why the government is trying to run a surplus and pay back debt, it’s not like there’s a danger of another GFC happening or anything. Government should be racking up more debt to contribute to worthy causes like climate change, equality and gay marriage, those are the biggest challenges of the 21st century. Stop putting finances before worthy social causes!😖

I'm not against the LNP giving out stimulus packages, but it needs to be carefully regulated instead of just splashing out $900 into people's accounts like "There you go- spend!". I'd advocate issuing a type of card (like the cashless welfare card) and these cards have x amount of dollars loaded on them but ONLY work for Australian businesses. For online purchases there could be a code number to enter like the security code on your credit card. But they need to make it so people can't (for instance) get $1k then spend it all on US goods on Amazon or buy $1k of stuff from China. The money has to be re-invested directly into the Australian economy.
There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed
