Palaszczuk accepting the win and Freklington conceding. Looks like it'll be a majority government, in a unicameral state.

Swing to the ALP too taking a few seats with Trads seat being taken by the Greens. A shift to the left by Queensland after 2 terms of ALP. What’s Sky News doing?

Well, they took out Trad only to have the seat go to the Greens. Mission accomplished?

Thats just hilarious. Greens gaining seats is great.  The younger demographics not being swayed . Despite murdoch owning all the papers up there and having former lnp people in charge

I honestly feel a lot of right wing or conservative commentators and politicians have backed the wrong horse with their opposition to COVID restrictions, especially when considering they usyally rely on the older demographic more so than Labor or the greens.

That suprised me as well. They thought that the older demographics were gonna ignore it like they usually ignore a lot of stuff. The right wing didn't think that the older demographics were at the biggest risk

Turns out many quiet Australians don't want to die 15 years early for the sake of the ecomony. Go figure.

I think the fact that this cohort's talking points mimicked Trump's can't be looked over either. Some of them are bootlickers either for the US or Murdoch.

Well according to this poll conducted by Trumps propaganda machine the response to Covid is more important than the economy.

https://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/us-politics/us-election-2020-the-number-that-should-terrify-donald-trump/news-story/981493233017dd668343244eef74140a

I think there's a disconnect between the talking heads and what makes headlines.

Unrelated to Covid but according to Fox more people trust Biden than Trump on the Supreme Court.  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-majority-trusts-biden-on-covid-half-say-virus-is-out-of-control

That poll 100% makes sense and should translate to voting but I scratch my head that climate change is consistently a top issue for voters in this country yet we keep voting this mob of deniers in.

Some mainstream commentators (Alan Jones comes to mind) absolutely have and I think it has backfired, at least here in Australia where only a small but noisy minority are parroting the anti-mask, anti-restriction rubbish that seems more prevalent in the USA.

I think that's due to us actually believing in the common good . Unlike America where the no 1 is and will always be oneself

Providing it doesn't affect his work he should be allowed to stay on.

Not illegal yes but to have porter tudge and numerous others come out and claim to be all about marriage and children and go out and have affairs is highly hypocritically

And it's against their own ministerial code of conduct. I'll leave the other issues like power balance etc out of it as I know the audience on this forum.

Yeah this power balance thing gets trotted out a fair bit.  It might be a factor but you have to assume then that capable women are incapable of making sound judgments.

It's condescending and patronising to women.  I'm not saying it wouldn't happen or it wasn't a factor but maybe she just wanted to fuck him.

Yes he's a hypocrite.  I get that.

There has been so many rorts I was expecting this to be an expose on screwing the taxpayer - not screwing staffers.

Yes they are displaying hypocrisy and yes young staffers can feel intimidated and that is wrong. But with so much more to look at I thought it was a bit underwhelming.

I was watching it with my wife and some other female friends who were visiting our place last night and they didn't think it was underwhelming at all.
