Brillante will get more game time at Empoli but really how much ? Have a feeling it wont be enough better of going Serie B can't recall any players going from the A league straight into the starting XI of one of the big 4 leagues.

sad news for kid, a big step down

WTF? It's a very good move for him?! Playing for one of the smaller clubs means he'll probably get a lot of gametime.

You think playing reserves football is a step up from the SPL? Scottish football might not be at its highest ebb but the league is well and truly better than any reserve league in England.

Is a very good move I would have put the SPL above the championship when their was full strength Rangers and Celtic but maybe not as good anymore but certainly not far of and better than league 1 for sure.

Apparently Empoli are delaying a loan agreement for Brillante for some unknown reason, which is starting to piss Grella off. They are also looking at options in Serie B as well as interested clubs in the EPL and Bundesliga.

I can't quite hear the name clearly, but it sounds like Mile Popovic. Not listed on transfermarkt or anywhere else I could find.

Unsure if he's claiming allegiance to some Balkan country, but with that accent he's not fooling me!

Quality find, great work once again.

Apparently was just on loan at that time. Hasn't been back since.

That's a shame, where was he loaned from?

NORTH Geelong Warriors young gun Stjepan Trbuhovic’s breakthrough opportunity has arrived after being asked to trial for Croatian soccer powerhouse Hajduk Split.

The 18-year-old midfielder left Australia last week and will spend the next month training with the famous club in a bid to earn a contract.

Geelong’s own Josip Skoko started his overseas career at the Croatian club before taking his talents across to England.

Trbuhovic has gone with the blessing of Warriors coach Micky Colina, who said the youngster would get invaluable experience even if he didn’t make the final cut.

“From what he’s told me, the senior players have gone to Italy for a week in their winter break, so he’s training with the fringe players and their youth team, so to speak” Colina said.

“They return next week and he’ll join them.

“Hopefully in a couple of weeks’ time he will have a better understanding of where he stands and if it does work out to be successful he will remain there for their season, which finishes around May.

“And if everything works out to plan, I’m guessing he will stay there through their summer break in the midyear.”

Trbuhovic’s immediate absence has created a balancing act with the Warriors’ roster, with lodgement deadlines looming.

But under any scenario, the newly promoted NPV club is confident Trbuhovic will be able to play for the Warriors this season if the Croatian experience does not go to plan.

“Even if things don’t work out for whatever reason, even if he finds out a bit later, he will still come back and participate in our season this year,” Colina said. “Obviously I’m supportive of this kind of thing and the opportunities it creates to get to the next level.

“It will be a good opportunity for him. We wish him all the best.

“As I say, it’s an experience you can put in your pocket and no one can ever take it away from you.”

Full matches last night also for Federici, James Meredith and Giannou. Alex Grant, on loan from Stoke, also played a full game and scored, as did Irvine who got an assist.

Bozanic and Halloran played in friendlies until half time and the 57th minute respectively, and Weslowski was stretchered off after just 17 minutes in his League Two match.

Panos Armenakas, still only sixteen, is getting game time in Udinese's Primavera (U20's) now, coming on at the 55th minute in the first match of the new year. He also came off the bench in the 80th and 83rd minute in the last two games before the Christmas break. Very promising.

Well while the Socceroos were misfiring all night, Ikon played the full 90 for Lazio U20s, scored one goal, and created three assists!

Knew we shoulda called him up.

Did Taggart's problems only start when he moved to England, or is this a carry over from the Jets?

Seems like there is a lot of long-term injuries among the boys playing in the British lower leagues: Williams, Good, Rogic, Taggart. There seems to be almost as many injured over there as those who come through successfully. Maybe something in the physio/ sports science setups?

Quote:
Fulham striker Adam Taggart is in the wars again.

The Australian World Cup striker was supposed to have finally made his first-team debut this month after suffering six months of groin problems that also needed surgery.

But despite a run-out with the reserves in December, the 21-year-old has met with more bad fortune.

"It's not a setback as such, but strength wise Adam's left side has shown to be not as strong as his right. So it was worth taking him out of training to strengthen that up," manager Kit Symons explained.

"And hopefully, because he's missed so much football, when he's fully fit, we'll look for a loan opportunity to get him back playing games."

Just watched a few Wesolowski videos. He seems like a good, likeable bloke. It's a massive shame what happened to him. Although league two now, I still think he'd serve the national team with more motivation than some others. We've got tonnes of midfielders however.

Wright on bench. Kilkenny starting and Lowry starting for Orient. Is Lowry off the radar forever now? He'll probably be around the Wesolowski level.
